Hacker wants 1k bitcoin and sent me my data. What should I do?

A hacker sent me an email containing random letters. He included my HWID and said he wanted $1,000 in Bitcoin or he would leak my data. He also sent me my account details, the passwords for various accounts like Valorant and Discord, and a picture of my desktop. What should I do now, and why would he show me my HWID? Can he do anything with it?

It only looks like this mail came from your account. Well, in no case pay. First change your passwords, but first write them into a Word file and then copy them when changing. The second step: Criminal ad to the police reimburse for extortion.

1000 bitcoin? That would be over EUR 62 million – you are obviously a very, very rich person;)

The HWID and the other are supposed to prove that it is “real”. Apparently, you were hacked when he shows you these things. PC Clearly scan, format better in such a case – and change from elsewhere passwords.

Do you have the same password everywhere? Consider your online and security behavior and: Of course you don’t send him anything – if you have 1000 bitcoins, you should definitely think about better security precautions, which will cost you practically nothing.

I also got these “mails” – with an ancient password, but without the image of my desktop. The passwords come from Darknet password collections.

If they agree with you, it’s more serious, then someone was “in” your PC – you probably have a Trojan and spy program on your PC.

The most important thing is: never pay. You never see the money again and you won’t be. PC plating, passwords – all – change from elsewhere, activate 2-factor authentication etc.

As with any crime, you should first contact the police and not follow the demands of the offenders!

I’d go to the police.

Ensure all the evidence and make criminal complaints.

Replace all your passwords with really safe passwords.

This is more than unbelievable!
