I once had one that would drop its leaves in the winter when the air was dry, and eventually I threw it away. In the summer, when it was humid, it grew short, but otherwise, it didn't.
This is most likely a very young Japanese paper maulberry tree. The leaves remember figs on the surface, but have a characteristic notch. I only know this one from botanical gardens about East Asia. https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papiermaulbeerbaum
