The skin of the zebra is fundamentally black. Only shortly before birth are the white stripes formed.

Zebras definitely have black and white stripes that are already developing in the embryonic stage. However, it is not yet known whether the dark color cells are killed on the white strips, do not even wander pure, or in these areas the production of pigments is inhibited.

A white coat basic color with black stripes. Often recognizable on the thigh. There the stripe pattern is often interrupted, and it is clear that the basic color is white.

The skin colour below it is black. You have to distinguish that.

Otherwise, a shoe gets out. They have black fur and get white stripes shortly before birth.

Neither – nor

the white belly, leg inside, mouth area and eye rings is another feature, which also have donkeys and horses (sulphide, flour maul).

Zebras have black skin, but the white hair cells are already in the early embryonic stage. Unlike in spotted animals (dogs, horses…), there is pink skin under the white spots.

No. https://www1.wdr.de/radio/wdr2/themes/frag-doch-mal-die-maus/zebra-street-100.html

The answer is:

In the womb, Zebras have a black coat. The skin of the zebras is also black. Only shortly before birth are the white stripes formed. White stripes protect the dark animals better from stabbing insects.

Sounds funny, but it’s like that.

The foal looks just like the big ones. (depending on type). Apart from the fact that some still have the hairy (more brown) baby color and the black comes out on the legs only after the first coat change, that also have horses.

Why is it even relevant when which hair cell is created? An adult zebra has mostly white fur in the end.

Accordingly, one should say:

The foal is black with white stripes.

The adult animal is then white with black stripes.

Or not?

Yes well, you can say they are black and get the white stripes before birth (if the coat grows), but the hair cells have been there long before that, which arise immediately together with the skin.

So it doesn’t seem to be so clear overall.

So for me zebras are black, and in the heart flicker the with white patterns.

overall they have stripes, but they are not white, these are bright stripes on dark ground. Anyone who is able to look closely will realize that a herde zebras in reality produces a kind of color spectrum. This is due to the refraction of the light, and the way quantum mechanics behave and light when it is deflected.

  • The zebras have their own wave length around themselves, so they are also black. The strips are native and colourless.
