Fentanyl in Germany on the rise – ZDFheute

Pain agents (Analgesics) are divided into opioid-containing and non-opioid-containing preparations. the latter are freely available; first can only be handed out against recipe.

  • Opioides –These drugs must be prescribed by a doctor or a doctor. They are significantly stronger than prescription-free drugs and are usually used in acute and very severe pain, for example after a surgical procedure.

The opioid-containing, prescription-only analgesics include: Morphin and fentanyl. Opioid analgesics are obtained from opium, the juice of Papaver somniferum, or synthetic derivatives. They develop a range of desired and undesirable effects through the effect on the body’s opioid receptors. Due to the dependence-producing effect, opioids are considered to be the last choice in chronic pain.

At the top is dihydroetorphin, with an analgesic potency of 11,000
