Hair analysis MPU?

Hello everyone,

I have to take the MPU soon and I have a question. I've proven for a year without any interruption that I haven't consumed alcohol. The whole thing was done through urine samples. They were all negative. So far, so good.

Now my question is, during the MPU, in addition to the urine sample, will a hair sample also be taken to check again whether I have consumed any drugs during the registered holidays?

This is where I would have a problem… .

If that's the case, it would be better if I refused, right? Even if that meant taking another MPU and incurring the associated costs. But my complete record of driving without gaps won't start from scratch…

Does anyone here have experience?

LG and thank you in advance

Hey 27Andreas06,

I am not a MPU professional, but I know that there is usually a complete proof of one year (e.g. as with you on regular urine samples). Hair analysis is not automatically required, for example because it is comparatively expensive. However, if the authority has special doubts or requires additional safety regarding abstinence, it may also require a hair analysis. Depending on the assessment of the assessment body, this could possibly be due to the holiday in your case.

A refusal of the MPU is evaluated by the assessment body as non-appearances to the MPU. That means that the MPU is then reported as not passed. However, the evidence of abstinence remains valid for a certain time (often 1 year). New evidence is usually required only after this period.

Maybe it’s also a way to get in touch with the verifier and ask what evidence is required in your case. At least the uncertainty can be clarified and you can prepare for what’s up.

If you have any further questions or would like to consult a consultant or adviser again, you can use the free online consultation platformDigiSearcheasily and anonymously contact (online) consultancy offices in your area. And of course, you can just write me here on a good question if you like 🙂

Exactly, I think the maximum “holiday” is 6 weeks or so. And if that was previously agreed with the authority, that should not be a problem. But still, it’s good that you have a plan B in case of cases. I will definitely push you the thumbs that everything runs smoothly! 🙂 lg, sandro
