@guitschee Disney film as another musical?
@ more or less brought this question to my attention and asked me to give him my opinion on another (musical) question.
I am happy to do this now:
I went to see The Lion King musical in Hamburg on Sunday. I was, and still am, absolutely thrilled. The music, of course, but also the actors, the costumes, the various theatrical and musical elements combined—all of this makes this musical a magnificent work of art!
But now to the question that came to me after I happily left the hall:
The musical "The Lion King" has now been around for 20 years!
And rightly so.
Not too long ago—please don't ask me exactly when—but it's been running alongside the Stage Theater for DKdL. Another theater right next door is for "The Ice Princess" as a musical. I don't know yet what that's like, and whether I'll be tempted to see this particular film when I get the chance—but for now, I'm happy. ^^
But now I've been wondering which other Disney film would be well-suited to being adapted into a musical, with at least a similar "bombasticity"—if you know what I mean—to KdL, and possibly Frozen, though, as I said, I can't say.
Anyone who has seen KdL. will know what I mean when I assume that it should be as well combined and arranged as the Lion King musical.
I hope you understand what I want to know. If not, feel free to ask again 😉

Have you seen the Lion King musical?
Do you know that there have been other Disneymusicals out of KdL and Ice Queen for a long time? The first was “Die Schöne und das Biest”, premiered in 1994. Tarzan, Aladdin, The Glöckner of Notre Dame and Arielle also gave it as a stage musical. So my favorites have almost all been on stage.
What I would wish would be Rapunzel.
P.S.: The theatre next to the KdL tent was not built for the ice queen, but for “The miracle of Bern”.
Generally, I like the Disneymusicals, but they do not belong to my favorites as they serve me too much the target group children/family. I prefer more adult substances.
Aside from Tarzan? No, I didn’t know. But you wonder why they have “never prevailed”, you know? DKdL. has been in HH for a long time and is still extremely well visited! The others are probably here and there, right?
Well, I would rather say KdL is an absolute exception. JEDES’s other musical, which is performed by the same organizer (Stage Entertainment), changes every couple of years to the location (Hamburg, Berlin, Stuttgart, formerly also Oberhausen), whether Aladdin or Dance of Vampires, and I would not say that Dance of Vampires has “not prevailed” 😉 KdL is simply exceptionally successful.
My favorite musical of Disney is Arielle, but that actually didn’t make it to Germany. I saw it in Utrecht (Netherlands). The beauty and the beast is also great, which is always toured by Germany in winter, but performed by a Budapest team that you don’t always understand well. Still nice.
The world’s longest musical in a location is Starlight Express in Bochum. Will be there in 1986 or so.
not to forget that “Mary Poppins” is currently played in London as a stage musical.
That’s right, and it ran in Stuttgart too.
and also in Hamburg.
I’m not a big fan of the presentation, but I’m looking at a lot of musicals and then a KdL visit is primarily a Disney fan of duty.
Well, I find the entrance scene “Circle of life” very beautiful and impressive, but all that came after that was no longer there. Only “shadow land” in the second act still provided for goose skin. Sure, the costumes and scenery are unique – but the children’s actors in the 1st. Acting at that time, I found only weak and in general it was too colorful and childish. But that’s what Disneymusicals is all about. I prefer pieces that are more complex and darker, like “Wicked” or “Rebecca”. They touched me to tears. KdL just couldn’t tie me up properly. But as already mentioned above, I also don’t like the cartoon especially (and with this opinion stand quite alone;-) ). I found the idea of a lion monarchy terrible as an Elf-year-old and I find the lions unsympathetic. But that’s just my opinion. Maybe I had bad luck and was in a weaker performance. Sometime I give them a chance to convince me. But next time I’m in Hamburg, I guess the ice queen’s up. Or Harry Potter. Let’s see.
Sorry to interrupt again. But why exactly were you disappointed? I mean, with such a well-known template, you can see what you’re going to do, can’t you?
I don’t think it’s so stupid – with the exception of the roller shoe running skills.
I know the latter. Was there 2016 or so – and was so disappointed.
I’ll never do.
It’s more like I’ll take the hours off and pay for it….
No, I don’t.
Surely with Thater and/or Musicals you have to start something. After all, the cards aren’t exactly cheap. Nothing worse if you drag someone in there, but then you’re totally bored or annoyed…
It’s good to understand your attitude.
My wife and son want.
We live here at Bochum.
SE was np, I just stayed home.
But they also want to go to Hamburg, look what we do.
Hamburg is much more beautiful than Bochum!
Why not? Then they have to drive themselves and you stay in Bochum
Yeah, but I don’t want to go to Hamburg. ^^
Hamburg is so complex. with me also someone was there (concreteer I won’t) the clipp and clearly said he didn’t want to see it or it doesn’t interest him. He then looked around in Hamburg with the various Öffis. You’ll find what you’re interested in and do something else.
So I really don’t want to go to jz, but it’s gonna make me irritate, but it’s too far away.
