Gog.com seriös?

hallo zusammen,

Sure, they’re serious.

Since GOG only offers DRM free, the game catalog is smaller than on Steam. Not every developer/publisher dares to publish a game without copy protection.

In addition, they started to publish old games over 10 years ago and were able to run on modern systems. GOG doesn’t mean Good Old Games for free.
From there you will find many old and very old titles. The Witcher was the first modern game that dared the free way, but also comes from the same house as GOG.

In the meantime, they have been well-painted, even if there is no client requirement such as Steam, Uplay, Origin etc, they still offer a client (Galaxy) that you should also use because of the overview and administration alone.

GOG Galaxy can also implement games from other clients. But this is a new feature and will be further expanded with time.

Differences to Steam are predominantly community content that is missing and Steam features. N cloud storage also offers GOG.

In irregular intervals, you can GOG Connect Unlock your own Steam games for GOG. It used to be more common, now quite rare.
That’s why I have so many games on both platforms.

What I like better at GOG than on Steam: evaluate games much more differentiated than just thumbs up/ thumbs down.
And of course old games remain running, on Steam it doesn’t care if a game on Win10 never sparks. Bad luck.

It’s GOG Galaxy, its client.

At the first start you will be asked. After that, you can also set it in the settings.

GOG.com is like Steam a sales platform for computer games.

Steam will be Valve offered by GOG.com CD project (the creators of the Witcher series).
So yes is trustworthy.

Unlike other sales platforms, GOG.com has committed to offering all games DRM-free.

Are GOG games not even without any copy protection?

DRM = Digital Rights Management (de.: Digital Rights Management)
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digitale_Legal administration

This is a protection for digital goods (games, movies, eBooks, etc.).
So a kind of copy protection that prevents you from playing the games without, for example, the Steam account on which you bought the game.

DRM-free means that you can also play the games legally without being registered with a GOG account.

Yes, once buy and then you can install and play it on any PC.

Okay… I just had a little… I was still in “being logged in with a GOG account” and thought that you can even play the games without having ever been logged in to GOG on your PC.

On the contrary. Option nr4 : Better than Steam

These are DRM free games for the most part what you have bought.

That’s why prices are more expensive, but that’s what you’ve got.

With steam it is so if the steam server will ever be switched off no matter why you can’t play the games anymore.

Because you can’t register anymore, there’s no offline mode.

Actually even better than steam than the games at Good old Games have no DRM (copy protection). Especially when you’re on classics, there’s a good starting point to buy games.

Absolutely. : First of all, because the stuff is also guaranteed to run on Windows.

can take along effortlessly, especially when playing with GOG with beautiful regularity also offline.

It’s basically like Steam. I’m just here because the more often very old classics offer for download (has recently bought Deathkartz, and formerly the brilliant Wingcommander: Privateer)

It’s serious.

I’d be more reputable than Steam at the business venue. But there is no answer;).
