Go swimming with your hotel card?

I have booked a hotel room in Spain.
Question: Can I put the card in a small bag, tie it tightly, and leave it in my swimwear pocket? Or will it fit in seawater?

That would be too tricky.
Just leave her with your stuff. No one can start with your card. Do you think a thief is doing the trouble and testing all the hotel rooms?
I make a better suggestion: drop the card at the reception when you go to the beach. She's kept safe and can't break.
