Simply scrolling takes ages and eventually the browser freezes because so much data is being loaded and pointlessly filling up the RAM…

An endless feed constantly loads new content from the server. Since there are many content on large platforms and constantly new ones, there is no hard end (if the connection does not stop or there are any limits). Scrolling faster than by repeated actuation of “end” is also difficult, as loading the website is the limiting factor.
Contrary to the fact that more and more content also eats more and more RAM, it is also little to do. It would be possible to unload old data. However, this would break back scrolling and should be implemented by the operators of the page (or userscripts).
