There are no coastal deserts on the west coast of the USA because the climate and geographical conditions are not suitable for the formation of a desert.

The west coast of the USA is influenced by the cold Californian stream, which brings cooler air and damp sea flows. This creates a maritime climate characterized by mild temperatures and sufficient rainfall. These moist conditions prevent the formation of a desert along the coast.

In addition, the west coast is protected by coastal mountains such as Sierra Nevada and the coastal foothills of Rocky Mountains. These mountains act as barriers and prevent the penetration of dry, gloomy air masses from the east.

The combination of the maritime climate and the protection of the coastal mountains means that no coastal desert is created on the west coast of the USA. Instead, there are diverse ecosystems such as coastal forests, wetlands and Mediterranean vegetation.
