Save money for your own horse?
Hey, I'd like to have my own horse and have already looked around, but unfortunately I don't have enough money. I don't think my family would allow me to buy one, but I really want one. I've been riding for a long time and want to do what I want with the horse. Do you have any ideas on how I can easily earn more money (I'm 13)?
It won’t go with 13!
You can’t work so much!
At minimum wage, you should work in about 850 hours.
That would be about 425 working days for 2 hours, more you can’t work under 15 years. You’d have to work two hours every day in about two years.
For the maintenance of the horse, about 2.5 hours of work are due each day. but nothing has happened yet.
Better small plans and focus on the school, saving money for courses, riding lessons and qualified riding holidays. So you can start your horse-owner life after your training!
It’s only if your elders are full of it. A horse can quickly become very expensive, and if you don’t have the money for the purchase, you will never be able to cover the running costs.
It starts with you needing another car with a horse, what if you need to transport it. My vater is currently looking for a small car for me, under 11,000 € is currently only scraped. A small car can’t pull a horse, you or your parents need a bigger vehicle.
Not only the prices of cars explode, even those of horses are extremely stubborn and stable operators, also see themselves forced to take more and more money.
I know it’s your childhood dream. I can understand, I dreamed at your age.
Meanwhile, I am 26, almost 27 and I have to say: I am so glad that I had no horse with 13 yet. Why? Well, you like to imagine it so easily, but there is a huge responsibility behind it.
If your parents are not exactly horse-loving (what they don’t seem to be), there will be no distraction for them in their decision.
And, I’ll tell you something: from 1000 to open end you’ll find a horse in every price category. But these are only the purchase costs. Depending on the age of the animal, there will be several thousand € per year, veterinarian costs (standard dates as half a year inoculate/special costs, because the animal is injured) of possibly several 1000 € per year, Hufschmied (depending on what is desired, all-round cover costs quickly 200 € per 6 to 8 weeks rhythm), stable rental up to 10,000 € per year etc. On top even additional food, if Hü really needs this, dentist once a year, Sattler half year, Osteo/Physio as required and of course riding lessons (depending on the number and price of the horse riding hours taken, there will be more than 300 € per month here).
Of course, it always varies.
You see, buying once is not done. Even a saddle costs several 1000 €, depending on the model.
You can’t earn that much money (you can’t work yet). Not to forget the monthly reserves on top of min. 500 € for unforeseen things.
Aside from the time you have to invest.
Therefore, my tip to you: Take time for your school and professional career, earn enough money and if you’re stuck in life with both legs, you can buy a horse.
Believe me, it doesn’t work. I tried it myself. The problem is, currently you have to pay about 7000€ for a healthy recreational horse. Equipment also comes in, Rechne adds to it Grob 3000€. Let’s say you got it and get everything together, the stable also works financially. Then there are still problems.
I bought my mare with 18 and I got everything financed as far as possible. Also had an OP insurance and co! Then a call came out from the stable: “Hey, just got the horses in and paralyzed Stuti. Look at this, this morning everything was okay.” I drove into the stable, Stuti wasn’t Stocklahm, but went in. I thought I’d give her a few days. But it got worse. When the veterinarian came on Sunday as an emergency, said but only here is pain medication until Thursday, then come to the clinic, we make an ultrasound. There’s something to be done on the tapes. So scheduled, insurance contract brought out and see there: don’t pay this surgery! So I got a relationship, I need 3500€ to next week. Must be paid immediately when picking up, otherwise I can’t take Stuti with you. Luckily, an emergency plan was made for this before the purchase that there is this support in such summs.
End of the song: I have spent a lot of money in treatment, my mare of 4 years possessed about 2 years really riding and still before Stutis full year it must retire thanks to veterinarian mistakes. Ride over. And that’s why I’m awake again for so long, they’re eating you up and they’re sleeping and annoying.
Thank you, but I already have an equipment (clothing, halter, butter, pussy, etc.) I know that there are many other costs, but I will still try
You can try it, but ask your family only if they are ready to pay $10,000 or more immediately in case of emergency. The money must be there!
Known have bought their first pony, young fitte mare with perfect AKU. 2 weeks after the purchase of Nachts ne üble Kolik, Pony immediately drove to the clinic after consultation, Not Op on the spot. When picking up, they had to pay more than 10,000€ and advance the insurance, sonat you shouldn’t have taken Pony and Pony would have stood at the clinic for probably another 1000€ (which the insurance would not have paid) until the money was there.
That must be possible! Or you’ll let your puddle die in this case, but you don’t want it and that would be animal torture.
Is now vllt hard for you, but with 13 you are not yet in financial position, but also not in responsibility to have your own horse really alone without any support. That’s the world. If you are full-year, you can do what you want if you have the financial possibilities. But you still lack important experiences.
A RB could be something for you. Depending on the arrangement, you can make 1/2/3/4x a week on the horse and have certain freedoms, but you can also regulate. But the better you stick to the rules, the more freedoms you get with time. So you can also focus on the school you shouldn’t underestimate. A separate horse requires a lot of time, which has a bad effect on the school
I didn’t want my own horse for a long time because I knew I had much more freedom without a horse and I always had the opportunity to ride. I had RBs for years and had to give up last year. The time was missing to make my own horses + RBs + friend + I moved. But when I was 18, I filled my dream before I thought. But with 13 I can never really appreciate the financial. These are 7-10k CHF annually for me
But for a Rb I would have to change the stable because my stable doesn’t offer but I don’t want to
Oh believe me you will probably change the stable more than once with your own horse
I’ll tell you something, I’ve had my horse since 2021. Since then we have been standing in two stables (the present is the second stable). In the first stable I would not have thought that I would ever go away there, but all the shops and the lack of interest in the well-being of my horse have finally moved me to look for a new stable. I will leave this, stand now, if my life situation should change seriously.
I was on vacation this week. On Thursday the call from the stable operator came that my horse slipped out and fell down. Luckily, not much has happened except for a few shots.
The fact that the stable operator took, put down and brought away my horse three times for the TA, looked after him, put him in the box for a night to see if something worse might develop is NOT obvious. He didn’t have to do that. He did.
Never rely on other people. You can’t judge how good the stable is when you stand. I know a girl at your age who got a horse bought by the horse-experienced mother for self-education, which makes her horse broken or lets her do, because the RL and at the same time the stable operator does not have the balls in her pants to tell her that the unfinished animal is flat in two years at the latest, because tournaments and successes are so much more important than a healthy training of the youngster. Proven persons are in the first stable where I was standing with my horse.
There will always be reasons why you move. On the one hand, you will grow up and move, perhaps the stable is too far away. On the other hand, you are probably in a school stable and the attitude is suboptimal in 95% of cases. It is primarily about the health of the horse, not whether people are nice. But with 13 you don’t understand. I mean, you’re missing experience
Joa, until you rethink, because the horse does not fit into this attitude with this herd. The first stable will never be the last.
No, the people at my stable have already asked and they are all nice and have been there for many years
I can totally understand your dream – but please wait until you know (approximately) where your path will lead you in life…
When the time of first love comes, you have to orient yourself professionally – and perhaps other interests will have priority, then the once hot-loved horse is quickly standing behind.
Again:
I can totally understand you – but unfortunately I have also seen too many horses that were then pushed onto the storage track.
Please wait a few more years – also for the horses.
By the way, you’re not making such purchases at 13 years – even if you had the money for it…
It also depends so much more on it than the mere purchase price.
Good for you!
With 13 you can e.g. carry newspapers (prospects, community scorers, weekly leaflets,…), possibly baby/health sessions, give help, such things. But all this is not going to be enough, because it is not necessarily the cost of purchase + equipment (while currently for a good horse needs to be swept properly) but above all the running costs. stable rental, insurances, reserves for veterinarian (the new fee regulations make it really difficult for many animal owners currently), hoofing, teaching (and yes, you need with 13 necessarily), feed costs, approach to the stable, etc. pp. This is a 3-4-digit amount/month.
And how fast are additional costs in 4 or even 5-digit heights… just as an example: a friend’s horse crashed about 3 weeks ago and has unhappyly pulled a meat wound over the carpal joint. This had to be sewn and clipped, so that it holds together some way, and bandages, so that the leg is not bent too much. Nevertheless, it does not hold well through the doofe place, TA every week to clean and reconnect, cling again,… cost within the 3 weeks: approx. 3Tsd€. Now it’s finally going ahead with healing, but the thing is not over yet. I’m sure TA will have to come a few more times, so it hasn’t been too expensive. The OP insurance also takes over only the costs of sewing/clamping or even if this takes place under sedation.
Another factor is your age and lack of experience. In such a case, you always need expert people on your side who help you with the horse and stand by you, because many things you can’t yet know except you come from a horse family. In addition, do you know where you stand in 5 or 6 years? Whether you want to study in another city, or whether you are doing an education that will vllt you a day incl. Travel 8 – 9h costs time? Then where to go with the horse? Who cares? Currently, I have a horse in Beritt for sale: 17j. Besi hasn’t yet called a driver’s license, isn’t really mobile, has a training started with 8h working time and is about 2h on the way back and forth with Öffis. For the horse it is from her home again about 30 min with the Öffis or approx. 50 minutes by bike. Easy route. Your RB will start a study soon, so there is no time left. Doof.
A horse is bought if you can finance it yourself and can plan a horse for the next 5 – 10J…. in your own life. Otherwise, the fun simply has a hole when the dream develops to the nightmare, because you have no time or every € just goes on for the horse and you only have a stress to get everything just baked.
Oh, child, getting the horse would be the smaller problem. Keeping a horse is permanently very expensive. The least people can afford that.
Yes is unfortunately so I will still try to make it
Why do you even ask here – if you are not willing to accept the advice of experienced horse owners?
At the expense of the horse?
you’re 13 and you’ll have to wait till you get a horse. And then you must not forget that it is not only the right high purchase price, but you also have to raise money for the horse every month, several 100 euros a month and then the money for the blacksmith and the veterinarian is added. And that’s all expensive.
But I know many of my friends already have a special horse and my parents would take over a few costs
then ask her. In addition, they do not have to pay a few costs, about 500 euros a month, but more or less everything. Are they ready???
A few costs, but not all.
I totally understand your wish or dream! That’s exactly how I was. Until I could meet this dream with 20.
However, it is a good idea to start saving early with that for the dream. For example, you can carry newspapers, run dogs gassi, baby sits etc. and if you’re a little older you can look for a firm side job.
I’m sorry, I’m afraid that doesn’t make sense. If your parents don’t allow it, you don’t have to save. It really costs more than you think or think.
If you want to have a horse with which you can do what you want, start with a riding share or care horse. I think your parents will agree.
Love
Froya
She won’t have an RB or PB very long. You don’t do what you want, but what you’re doing!
Well, it’s like DIR. I can even do with other private horses or just club horses what I want.
Please, I don’t have to pray. I can do that and so do the owners a great favor
Then you’ve gotten into pretty irresponsible horse owners and you can pray that there’s never anything happening to you or one of the horses.
Do you know your relatives who want to support you, what comes together at cost? If you don’t loose (!) 1000 euros per month, the money is not enough for a horse. That’s also not discountable, you’ll need this money for a long time. Everything else would be irresponsible to the horse.
Not at all. So much money that you can afford your own horse, you’ll never earn at that age. Just as a reserve for medical emergencies, you need 10,000 spares for a horse besides all running costs of course.
Even if you have the money for the horse, you don’t have any money for it anymore. So wait.
Even if you get the purchase price together, which would really surprise me at your age… how do you want to pay the current costs? Stable rent, veterinarian, feed??
Look for a horse from which you can be the riding share.
At the Rb is the problem I can’t do what I want and here at my stable there is unfortunately no why I have to change the stable:(
Is this all about you or the welfare of the horse?
200 euros a month. How do you want to put them on 13? Then the Hufschmied comes to veterinarian costs… a friend of mine had veterinarian costs for her horse after that…
To the welfare of the horse but my stable pays the food, for example, that goes into the stable rent (200€ per month)
Wanting to save money is a good idea. Until you are full-year, you could have the money for a horse if you set your requirements accordingly low and by then you probably also understood that money does not deserve so easy and that it is not funny to have to spend a large part of it immediately so that the horse has something in the stomach, is in a decent stable and has well-kept hooves.
You can ask horse farms in the area if you can help them get out against a pocket money. You will also learn how to look like a healthy horse pile in comparison to a sick one and that daily physical work is not so funny in the long term. Could motivate you better to watch at school.
It won’t work.
the question is not how you get to the money for the purchase, but how you finance the maintenance: parking space, food, hoofing, veterinarian…
I think that’s the smallest problem as I have saved money (approximately 3000€) and my relatives would take part in it.
3000 euros… you want a 9000 euro horse. So you have a third of the purchase price. And where does the rest come from for the next decades JEDES MONAT? If you are cheap about 600 euro?
it’s not just about money: as I said, your life within the life of a horse (15-20 years) will turn and turn again – and what about the animal when it just doesn’t fit into your life? I think the horse deserves better than to be neglected or deported.
You got the tips.
But it doesn’t change the fact that your ideas are just unrealistic. And since this isn’t Google, you’ll get the advice on it for free.
I understand what you all write but I wanted tips on how to earn money and how to make it anyway!
you may be ready – your wallet is not!
No. You don’t have to.
Your pitiful answers are counter proof.
But that won’t come into your brain anyway because you have this fixed idea from your own horse. If the horse is lucky, your parents stay with her no.
No, but I’m ready for my own horse and I don’t have to prove this to anyone.
Did I say that?
That was not because of me, but because the horse has treated shit like that I would never do as I love animals
And out of this experience, you mean being qualified enough for your own horse?
Ne the stable was completely fucked, my then Rb was nice at first, but then she was completely disturbed because of the owner, who has thrown everyone down even the owner and who treated the horses shit
Yeah, it’s a lot of shit if you don’t know everything better.
No I didn’t want anymore because the stable was shit
What happened to the RB you had a month ago?
Did you know everything better and you were asked to stop coming?
And how do you want to “plan everything” if you don’t take a single advice you get here? You know everything better from your perspective. But if it were, you would have the horse.
No you have to plan everything first
If it were so easy, you would have a horse.
This is your opinion my parents allow me a lot
There is also something called reality. And you should know more about that.
But there’s something I’ve been wondering about.
And your parents just don’t want to buy you a horse.
Yeah, it’s just that, but I don’t want a Rb.
So what can change within days and then a decision must be made. But you generally only think into the future until your nose tip and don’t take any advice.
No, but so far all Icelandic horses have been cleared
Now you’re putting your priorities on the barn suddenly over the horse?
