Earlier in my youth (80s) I took part in carnival parades/carnival parades with my friends, but it was more about the fun and excessive consumption of alcohol in the public.

Dressing was also “approximate” LOL at the time, as one had not to worry about other cultures and ways of life.

Nowadays, you have to first form a working group or order a lawyer to find out if there could be legal problems with certain disguises or any personal rights could be violated. :

Yes, with us in Switzerland (precise canton of Lucerne), carnival is always celebrated. I’m in a Guggen music playing parties or parades. A group with the same motto and disguise.

We start the so-called prefasnacht in January (in part already on 11.11.) and then we go to the party every weekend and play there. The actual Fasnacht lasts 6 days and is terminated at the Ash Wednesday. After that, the 40-day fasting period begins.

No, I don’t like this whole dressing. And if, then more subject-related in a different context. Carnival is generally too colorful and silly.
