Die von dir beschriebenen Probleme zeugen von einer defekten Leuchte.
Typische Fehlerquellen:
Idr. alles reparabel. Aber das ist nur was für einen Fachmann.
Wenn die Lampe schon sehr alt ist und du daran hängst, besteht in vielen Fällen die Möglichkeit, die Elektrik komplett zu erneuern.

Es könnte sein dass in der Fassung nur die Kontakte zu justieren sind. Dazu den Netzstecker ziehen, den seitlichen und den Fußkontakt eventuell etwas justieren.
Wenn das nichts hilft kann der Fehler im Schalter oder auch in einer Kabelunterbrechung liegen

So wie Du es beschreibst, sieht das nach einem Wackelkontakt, vermutlich im Schalter, aus.
Dann wird wohl der Schalter defekt sein.
