Goethe’s poem interpretation?
Hey, I have to write an interpretation of Goethe's poem "My Heart Beat" next week, and I can't seem to make much sense of the interpretations I've found online from experts. Does anyone have one from their school days that they could write for me?
Thank you!!
You have a lot of time to let the poem work on you and think about it. It is a very well-known poem by Goethe and has the title “Welcome and Farewell”. This title should give you a hint.
We had to interpret the poem in a class work. This is now just under 60 years ago, and I probably had only one “satisfactory” because poetry interpretations were not so much for me. Oh, if we had already had computers and the Internet at the time, then I would certainly have written only one in poetry interpretations and that would result in a completely wrong impression of my achievements in the subject German.

Who do you say that? 😉
Unfortunately, or thank God, had had had had had had had had had had had had had had had we still think. But as you can see, it didn’t hurt us.
I can only agree with you.
What I find insane, by the way: Apparently, the teachers say to the pupils always/oft (?) what comes as a topic in a exam/class work, e.g. not only interpretation of a short story, but interpretation of the short story “XYZ” by A.B. At least this was often presented by the FS and asked if you could give them tips on what to write. Then these are no more exams, but basically homework, which are memorized and then written out of memory again in the class, but are evaluated by the teacher as exams.
That’s not good of me now. But probably teachers don’t want to look at empty pages after a work/claw.
You can understand. 😉
