Also was ist typisch deutsch in dem Sinne?

I am an Au Pair mother and I am most happy about something self-made, personal that is not eaten or drunk, but that remains of my Au Pair, so we always remember her: a persuasive little photobook showing the city where she lives, parents, siblings, possibly. Friends, sports, school, music festival….all you can show or hear when you get a visit.

If you don’t want any photos: Now, for the coming Christmas season, can I also find a baked (or even made by yourself?) Dresdner Christstollen. You can also buy cleats in Sweden at Lidl, but with a real Christstollen you have nothing to do with taste.

Alcohol import is not allowed for U18. So please don’t try to smuggle.

I personally (but this is only my opinion) would not necessarily take typical German things. If you know the age of children or maybe even interests of possible children or adults…. Then I’d rather look there. My own experience abroad was rather: a look at the host gift (what regional) and then it landed somewhere and was never seen again. On the other hand, my guest mother would have been really happy about things for her hobby. In the end, no matter whether it would have been there. Of course you can look at certain things if you bring things from Germany. But I would only do that if it happened. Also with us were two guest students and please don’t ask me where their gifts have landed. Ultimately, we couldn’t start with it (like my Canadian guest mother).

In the case of small children, a board games like humans certainly don’t bother you well, in older or a Monopoly of your region (the event cards can be replaced if necessary). But, as mentioned above, I would only do that if it just fits from age.

What is typical of your region? Maybe there’s something that fits you.

By the way, German products would be Haribo and Playmobil. Just the latter is a great companion if there should be younger children in the family!

There are all possible Germans here. The Swedish supermarkets consist half of German products.

But the most important thing is not:

Bread.

Swedish “Brot” is an insane pamp. As in most countries in the world. Even Sweden, who live a time in Germany, remember that. Even for those who do not know it, German bread is definitely a real taste experience they do not know.

German wine.

Sweets are meaningless, because Sweden have its own tradition.

As a Schueler, you can’t use any alcohol to Sweden!
