Gap year or study directly?

Hi,

I (18, f) graduated from high school this year and am now very unsure what to do afterward.

I'm already sure what subject I want to study and I'm looking forward to learning, student life, etc., but a free year with volunteer work, internships, and earning money also appeals to me. My studies would start in mid-September due to preparatory courses, so I'd be pretty stressed with moving and everything. If I do take a gap year, I would definitely take university courses on the side so I at least have some learning material.

What did you do after graduating from high school, and are you happy with your decision?

What would you recommend to me?

I made a year of Au-Pair after the Abi and I don’t want to miss the experience! During my studies, I used every opportunity to study or work abroad. I found this very exciting and a broadening of the horizon and also good for personality development, especially when one is alone.

Must make Zivi. 10 months of compulsion, I was only able to start studying 12 months later. Had forgotten a lot of stuff in time, and that’s why there were great problems with studying at the beginning. But got a nice Zivi place.

Do you have a place for volunteer work?

If no, then leave it and start studying, then plan a gap between study and job again.

A Gap Year can be nice to enjoy the freedom again before getting into the job, but if you make use of it well. Otherwise, it’s fast, you didn’t make any sense, a stupid gap in the CV and a valuable life. Because you can’t afford one more…

Hi.

Since I had no interest in a Gap Year, I started studying right away and I don’t feel like I missed something.

I studied directly after the Abi or I’m still studying. I’m happy with my decision.

But you also have to mention that I’m studying dual, so it’s a bit different from a normal study.

It is now quite late to start studying this year. Not only do you have to take care of your studies, but also about everything (apartment, etc.). If you want to study, I’d start with the organization.
