Fork bridge nut / top yoke nut Yamaha R7?

Hello,

I recently bought a triple clamp nut for my Yamaha R7 to mount the Quad Lock phone mount on. Now I'm worried about whether changing the nut will affect the steering or be a general risk, or whether it really just pushes the triple clamp down and is almost unimportant. And my second question: Does it have to be waterproof, or is it enough if the phone mount holds it 80% of the time, if not more?
