Applying for a course of study while still studying?
Hello,
I'm currently in my fifth semester of a private psychology course and would like to apply for psychology at a public university this winter using the bapsy. My problem is that I don't want to deregister until I've received an acceptance letter from the public university. It's possible that I won't be accepted. Someone at the student advisory service told me that I have to deregister to apply. Can I simply state that deregistration is pending? And if I'm accepted, can I deregister immediately before I enroll?
Thank you
Hi.
Of course you can apply while you are immatriculated. You just have to be exmatricated before you immatricate yourself at the new university.
Great success for the application!

My college has a 3 month notice period. Do you think I can do this at the same time or should I allow myself to exmatricate 2.5 months before the releases of the security-by-security and then (if no promises come) quickly cancel the process?
a communist said that the universities will not wait for 3 months and can take back the promise
And from what country do you have your experiences with this answer? The university’s study consultancy advised me wrongly.
Hi.
I guess you misunderstood. I can hardly imagine such a wrong answer from a study counselling. Anyway, you can always apply for other courses from the current study. The federal state is completely irrelevant.
Since private universities do not intervene in the regular capacity management of state universities, it is often possible to be immatriculated in parallel at a state university and a private university. But you would have to know this directly from your desired university. There are no general rules for this. If this is the case, you have no problems with any deadlines.
Otherwise you should also look at your current study contract very closely. Exmatrikulation and termination of the contract are in fact two different processes at private universities. Exmatrulation is the formal process with which your status ends as a student. Exmatrulation does not automatically mean that you are exempted from financial obligations (e.g. tuition fees). For this purpose, the corresponding termination periods must be complied with. However, it should not be a problem to exmatricate at the request before the end of the contract term. You will need to find out the exact rules of your study documents. Contracts at private universities vary considerably.
