My knowledge has changed nothing. There is the safe payment function (which you should also use because now estimated 50% of the offers are Scam), but that has been available for 1-2 years already at Ebay classifieds.

No, you don’t have to use the payment function, it’s just an offer, you can pay as you want. If a personal handover is possible, of course, this is always the optimal case, but this often does not happen due to the distance, and for shipping shops I have to say, I appreciate this new function very much.

The seller will deposit his account. The buyer pays the purchase price plus the service fee by transfer or credit card to classifieds, the seller receives an info directly in the chat course that the payment has been received and the goods can be sent. The buyer confirms the proper receipt of the goods and the seller gets his money. In case of problems, the buyer can withhold the payment until the matter is resolved. Works just like the Paypal purchaser protection, only that the fees of the buyers bear, not the seller, which I find much more fair, because it is also the buyer that benefits from the service.

I’m glad you’ve never seen a fraud before, and you’ve been lucky. Of course, it also depends very much on what you buy at 10€ items, the risk of a fraud is of course much lower than at 1000€ items. I wanted to buy a certain (very expensive) radio on classifieds last year. I am saying and writing 9x consecutively (!) to Scammer, until I finally found an honest seller and got the desired device. Certain categories seem to be particularly popular with fraudsters.

The usual stitches of the classified fraudsters today are to demand payment by Paypal. However, the respective Paypal account is only enabled for the reception of “money to friends”, the goods payment with buyer protection is disabled. The scams exploit the fact that Paypal does not yet prove in a clearly recognizable way that you just don’t have money and have no buyer protection. If you don’t look very carefully, you overlook it easily, and the money is slipping. Some deceivers say that they only accept a payment by “Paypal to friends”, then you immediately know what you are.

As already said, no one forces you to use this service. I as someone who sometimes buys high-priced items by mail (because a pickup is not practical due to the distance) appreciate this service very much.

The name has changed as already simple and several possibilities are now open.

No, this has come for more security when selling/buying.
