Fritzbox: unknown login?
Hi guys
maybe you have an idea what I can optimize – I can't find it
- given: Fritzbox 7490, several devices connected, all working
- today: check the system logs again
- conspicuous entries
So. These entries keep coming up – they're always rejected because of an incorrect password. It's annoying – I have no idea where they're coming from. But it doesn't just happen once, it happens several times a day.
- the registrations always come from the same IP – i.e. from the Internet
- the login names are always the same
- They come at random times, so it seems there is no human being on the other side, but a machine.
- It would be stupid if someone were to carry out something like an automated attack – but the reports are too rare for that
I'd like to simply block this IP address completely—then nothing can happen again. Just as a precaution.
Unfortunately, I can't find an option in the fryer. Is there none, or am I not looking properly?
This is a well-known problem of Fritzboxen. These are automatically attacked. This is what AVM himself writes about:
https://avm.de/service/wissensdatenbank/dok/FRITZ-Box-7590/3299_FRITZ-Box-meldet-Anmeldung-des-user- failed/
Suuper!!!
👍
Then the attacker logs from another IP address. Don’t worry.
Why is the Fritzbox accessible from the internet. I would turn a firewall that you can’t reach it from the internet first. In addition, a good password (12+ characters, big and small, numbers, special characters, no words, no date).
Activate the 2FA and well.
A lot more can’t be set in the FritzBox.
If you deactivate the direct internet access to the FB, you no longer have the problem. I also don’t need it, via VPN or I can make AVM apps like that.
