Freewheel spinning? What to do?
Hello, I bought a new Canyon Neuron 5 a week ago. Today I've ridden it three or four times. While I was going uphill, I suddenly pedal into the void and something went haywire. A while before that, it had been making a slight creaking noise when I pedaled (as if it had already spun a bit), which I hadn't paid much attention to. Do you have any idea what the problem could be? Is the freewheel on the thru axle spinning? When I pedal backward, the freewheel rattles normally.
Well, on the axis the freewheel must also be free to rotate… the axis is fixed;)
For me, it sounds like something is wrong with the toothing of the freewheel.
And I wouldn’t do anything for a 1 week old new wheel, but that’s clearly a product defect and the manufacturer is allowed to improve within the scope of legal warranty. The thing they do.
So, get in touch with the canyon complaints department and set up the bike to send back.
There’s nothing to add. π
Very interesting, I have the exact same problem with my Canyon Neuron 5 and I also drove 3-4 times. How did you do that and what came out of it? Best greetings
Hello!
I’ve repaired now and I can drive again. I informed myself about the guarantee at the time and then brought my bike to the next Canyon Service Center. They already knew the problem and thought that the freewheel is completely destroyed and that the quality of the canyon’s own wheels is not good. Canyon then, fortunately, hadn’t had its own wheels in stock anymore (the danger that this is broken again in a short time seems to be great) there was a better DT Swiss wheel. In the end, I didn’t cost me just the annoying carriage and I couldn’t drive the bike then 3 weeks. Hope that could help you π
Best regards
Hello!
Thank you for your answer!
Super, I also contacted Canyon and can now bring my bike to the nearest service center in one week. I hope they don’t have a canyon of their own wheels anymore. π Fingers crossed!
Have fun with your neuron 5 and best regards! π
Don’t do anything but complain. The manufacturer is obliged to remedy the damage.
