Fraudulent emails?

Hey guys!

Yesterday afternoon, an email purporting to be from Europol landed in my inbox with the title "Judicial Investigation (Indictment)." The message text read:

Good day,
We ask you to find this summons concerning you enclosed.
Best regards.

A GMail address was listed as the sender (Europol and GMail—yeah, right…). The attachment contained a PDF, which I, of course, did NOT open. Because it quickly became clear to me that this was just a clumsy attempt at fraud or phishing. But why am I posting this anyway? Because this email wasn't filtered out by my spam filter (which is always up to date) and therefore didn't end up in the spam folder.

I would therefore like to take this opportunity to warn others about such emails.

At the same time, I'd also like to know what experiences you've had with these and similar spam emails, or whether you've ever fallen victim to such emails, because no one is safe from them. I'm not excluding myself from that.

I won't condemn or ridicule any of the victims here (and I already distance myself from all who do), so take heart! Perhaps by sharing your experiences, you can help warn more people about these scams. The best way to combat them is still to raise awareness, so that these scams become less and less profitable for these criminals. And awareness also includes testimonials from people who have fallen victim to them.

So: What experiences have you had with such scams – other than ignoring these emails and/or deleting them immediately (which is what you should do with them)?

Of course, spam filters cannot filter everything out.

This is why it always helps to read exactly and only then click.

When suspected to consider the sender exactly. In most cases, you can see that something is lazy.

Banks and similar mail are to be uncovered

I used to have an e-mail.

Supposedly someone was in my computer and would have cut me on sex pages and he would have activated my camera and also filmed me 🤣

I should transfer Bitcoins.

Otherwise, the videos should go to all my contacts

First I thought of the police, but since the sender already knew the Fake Erpresser’s seat abroad and since everything was invented and he couldn’t even be on my computer, I then ignored him.

But I had secured the mail for the first time when something else came up or something happened on the computer.

But really hot air and of course nothing happened.

At the first moment it was already a horror. Is there who actually is on my computer? Can he manipulate him?

Even though in my case it was clear that his assertion could not vote at all

But still you should act calmly in such cases

In no case overwhelm or even on earth which links click

I received an email from Mr. Gutteres yesterday. The Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) and me were promised $10m.

I am having fun for Grds and I will delete such emails. I don’t take any more steps.

Right. Classically, there were deceased princes of an African country, who wanted to inherit something due to their own descendants.

I once got an alleged mail from Instagram, but I didn’t even tell my father that Insta doesn’t write to individual people because there are too many people who use it. So immediately deleted it and not even read it through.

There are several spam mails in the office every day. The email address has existed for over 20 years and is used for all communication with customers, suppliers and authorities. At some point, she landed at Spammern.
Over 400 mails have been sorted out as spam in the last 5 months. So I know them all:

  • the deceased empires, whose lawyer or heritage now gives away millions
  • the hacker who presses with dirty videos
  • the bank that immediately blocks the account if you do not follow the link in the mail
  • the Paypal account lockout
  • the expired email account at the provider
  • and many others that do not seem to me

If you see this in this frequency, it must be a compelling “business model”.

I do not claim that I am immune to this, but I am protected by the extensive use of email accounts that only function as forwarding. If, for example, a message from my bank arrives at the Otto Send Email, it can only be spam. Because the bank has its own, other email address.

In the meantime, I use 15 real email addresses and over 30 relays.

The construction of this system took a few years and needs regular care.
