Question about shaft seal-simmerring?

Hello everyone, I need help with a shaft seal.
An old compressor has the following installed:
"Shaft seal 25×42.9×9.5"

This is a shaft seal that is vulcanized into a metal shell.
Apparently it's called the "B1SL" model. Right?
I can't really read it, but I think mine still says B30.
Now find such a sealing ring with "B1" in the description.
What does this value "B" mean? Material hardness? Or something like that?

Maybe someone can help me, please. I don't want to buy twice.

And does it have to be a sealing ring in a metal shell?
Or would a completely plastic one work?
What are the advantages of this metal bowl?
Why do they build it like this?

Thank you and have a nice evening

Construction B/BS

  • The top and the outside are made of metal.
  • If the inner rubber part 1 has an edge, then the mold B.
  • If it has 2 edges (i.e. an additional dust lip), then the design BS.

There is A without sheet metal and C with 3 sides sheet metal. Take the B as BS.

• Outer coat: metal, machined

• Spring-loaded sealing lip

• Additional protective lip (B1…SL)

• sealing lip profile, sealing lip machined on the face

• Sealing lip profile, finished sealing lip.

B1 Sl has these features. He’s okay. Denses on the inside against oil outlet under low pressure and from outside against dirt.
