FPS drops despite a good graphics card?

Hi, I have a 4060 with 8GB. An i5-11400F and 16GB of RAM.

I still get FPS drops despite good Nvidia settings. A colleague has the same graphics card and no FPS drops, and can play games like Apex at 200 FPS.

What could be the reason for this?

There can be many causes

Slow CPU/ evtl CPU throttling or unstable CPU settings (voltage etc.)

Background programs

Slow memory e.g. HDD

Instable RAM/RAM may be almost full and resorts to the slow Pagefile (Quasi reserve RAM which runs on your storage medium, which is much slower than the actual RAM.)

or Shader Cache might build up

You can also try between DirectX 11 and 12, which runs smoother

What could that be?

For example, your colleague ne better CPU. Or if your RAM is single channel. Or both. Or he uses other settings ingame.

Please not call a 4060/TI as a good graphics card.
This is/are slower than 3070/80/90

And that’s because it’s only connected to 8 lanes.
It’s a little different. Only with a 4070 you get faster and better than the 30XX graphics cards.

You need to see what you’re comparing.

Wes zm Fortnite goes, as bugt also in better systems.

Hi.

If your system works too slowly, you should test the performance.

Maybe wrong or missing drivers are the cause. Or Windows is covered, and it should be reinstalled.
