Formulate the question openly – any ideas?

Hi guys

I have to develop a research question for a study. As you probably know, open questions are preferred over closed ones for research papers. Unfortunately, I don't know how to open up my "closed" question without making major changes or adding new aspects. Do you have any suggestions?

The question:

Can formal home care alleviate the loneliness of older people (>80 years) living alone?

Hello

One way to open the question and create space for more comprehensive considerations could be:

“How and how can formal domestic care help to alleviate the loneliness of older people over the age of 80 and improve their quality of life?”

This open question encourages the study of the effects of care on the loneliness and quality of life of older single people from different perspectives and enables a deeper and more nuanced analysis.

“What impact does the formal domestic care have on the social interaction possibilities (alternative: on the social life?) of older single people?”
