Formatted hard drive?
Good morning
So: I cloned my hard drive.
From a 256 GB SSD to a 1 TB HDD
Now the HDD has been formatted to 256gb.
How do I get rid of the formatting?
The only important files would be the Windows files, the rest can be deleted without any problems
Hello,
in the disk management you can enlarge this 256GB partition over the entire 1TB or only assign it to 500GB and the remaining 500GB to a 2nd partition and then have 2 drives on this one HDD.
However, it is really questionable why this is done from SSD to HDD!
All the world makes it very different because the SSD for the system is much, much faster!!!
If there are space problems, then the “personal data” will be stored from the system to the 2nd hard drive (then the HDD).
I’ll get 60GB for the C system!
Best regards from Leipzig
Does good reasons why this is so thank you 😉
You can change the formatting of hard disks using the Windows Disk Management. However, make sure that all files are deleted (i.e., otherwise secure personal data and then simply reinstall Windows)
Booting PC with Linux (Live USB Stick), then using Gparted to enlarge and complete the partition. It may take a while.
Alternative path where all data are deleted:
Of course, you made a mistake when cloning
But WARUM?
hang in HDD as D and then bring pictures, documents etc via hardlink from SSD to HDD, then place again
The data doesn’t matter, so I just need the 1TB, and windows
it should be made a hard reset
And why didn’t you just install the HDD, SSD suspended and then Win reinstalled on the HDD, all set to run, then hang SSD, set boot order to HDD and then kill the SSD!?
Isn’t it all about my question?
What’s wrong?
You can expand and/or exchange data carriers in the notebook whether M.2 or SATA.
How did the HDD add to the SSD or is the SSD firmly soldered?
Then delete ALL partitions on the SSD during the Win installation and install the Win on the HDD. Problem solved
Don’t go, there’s a laptop.
