Fluid accumulation behind the pupil – what could it be?
Dear community,
For me today a nightmare came true!
For a few days now, I've noticed a deterioration in one eye, which has always been my weakest. At times, I saw as if through a veil.
Today I went to the ophthalmologist, who immediately scolded me for not coming sooner. But I've only had this problem since Friday!
He immediately referred me to an eye clinic. During the examination, they discovered fluid collecting behind my pupil. I was told it was something like a heart attack in my eye!
I need a full body examination as soon as possible to determine the cause of the fluid accumulation. It could be a venous thrombosis or a narrowing of the carotid artery. I'm shocked, because I'm not even 50 yet!
The doctor told me that they could try treatment with injections. I'll have an injection in my eye every four weeks. But there's no guarantee that my vision will be restored.
I'll be admitted there tomorrow. The eye clinic has several other clinics attached where the examinations will be performed.
I'm sitting at my computer now and I know I won't be able to sleep all night anyway.
Has anyone ever had experience with such a diagnosis?
What could be the cause?
Kind regards
