This depends on where you’re going. EU or non-EU country and which document is required when entering the destination country.

It might also be that you once agreed to the storage of your data in another booking. Then the booking system knows the passport number and the expiry date.

OK, even an error in the system cannot be excluded, but is extremely unlikely.

Sign up again to check your booking (most simply via the LH app). Then you should get a hint if data is missing.

For exit, you need your RP, at least the PA at the switch as a German, because the airline is obliged to check the documents before they issue a boarding card.

But the Chileans also control the passport and the boarding pass.

And here the LH booking comes into play with its booking code. I flew to Hong Kong 14 days ago and last Thursday again and both times I was asked about the type of document at the online check-in (once on the local computer and once from the hotel via the LH app):

diplomatic passport, residence permit, German passport (incl. no.), identity card etc.

The ticket is not a boarding pass; you do not get through the controls. Only upon check-in is therefore asked for document type, exhibitor state, expiry date.

Unfortunately, this is something hidden and will not be hidden when you put the hook on the question of a valid travel document. If you have the LH app, you need to scroll down at check-in until you reach the selection you can then select the document.

Yes, the query comes only – or at the latest – at the check-in.

Normal. Usually you will get when you fly into the country in the landing approach draws which you then have to fill out in the plane with passport nuts etc.
