You have no compensation. Technical defect = Higher violence.

It is also formulated as follows:

“An operating air carrier is not obliged to pay compensation under Article 7 if it can demonstrate that the cancellation is due to exceptional circumstances which could not have been avoided if all reasonable measures had been taken”

How do you think a technical defect should be avoided in all circumstances?

“The events are completely unexpected and act from the outside. Thus, in addition to natural disasters, wars and, under certain circumstances, even technical defects are to be regarded as force majeure.” https://www.finanzchef24.de/wissen/lexikon/hoehere-vio

If the flight line doesn’t pay for the hotel (though it should be) you don’t see the compensation payment. It is not a fault to fly with Lufthansa or Ryanair or similar.

Nice spamlinks. Unfortunately no serious sources.

On the first skin, my browser is about to risk security. Second is some twilight society from France. The third an outdated article from 2015. So much for that.

As I said, you won’t see any money.

Airline does not have to pay for excessive hotel costs.
