Fluent Forever?

Hi for those of you who have read the book Fluent Forever and use the Anki method for vocabulary, I have a few questions.

I've brought my 625-word list into Spanish and have been learning it for about six weeks now. It's going well, and now I wanted to take the next step. I wanted to learn how to conjugate verbs in different tenses.

For this purpose, it is recommended that you choose Spanish example sentences and leave the verb form, which then has to be conjugated, blank.

  1. Where can I find simple and good example sentences?
  2. If I don't know a word in this example sentence yet (e.g.: Alfombra), do I make a simple card for this new word or also a card with an example sentence?
  3. After my 625-word list, should I never use the Simple Card again? Should I always use example sentences from now on, even if it's a simple word like "pineapple" or something like that?
  4. How should the example sentences be structured? For example, if I stop using the Simple Card and use example sentences, can I make my sentences as simple as possible at the beginning (Tengo una Pina) or should they be more challenging?
  5. I've noticed that I don't always know exactly which tense is needed. Sometimes the sentences aren't clear enough. What should I do? Should I use the same tense in a subordinate clause with a different verb to show it? Should I use pointing words like normalmente, ayer, and so on?

Hello,

  1. good example sets for beginners can be found in so-called Phrase Books, beginner grammatics (e.g. training grammatics for the course A1) or in beginners readings
  2. that depends on how important you set the word and whether you want to use it again in the next time – on the other hand: why should you use it otherwise?
  3. you should do both, but could also combine pineapple with other tropical fruits as tropical fruits and take these as examples, similar to the map Animals from the book, just in Spanish
  4. as described in the first half of the book, first of all, you should keep everything simple, as the children do or as foreign language beginners teaches; therefore it is also good to take the sentences from a beginner grammar or beginners reading or to stick to these structures
  5. you are at 625 words and first have to learn the present for the beginning, and then according to your course method, your grammar book etc. There is nothing in Spanish to learn early times when you do not understand them; this must be accompanied by grammar.

I would then learn the one past in its typical context and then go over to the next, which one then faces. This does not necessarily have to be a written execution, but, if necessary, experienced situations that you associate with it.

Typical for a confrontation is the Perfecto and the Indefinido, that is something complete in today and something complete in the past. There should be actions where you may have something modern, possibly something earlier or something from your current phase. something from your past, but it should be individual actions, nothing regular.

Then the confrontation Indefinido vs. Imperfecto turn, i.e. action vs. scenery (e.g. weather) or one-time action (1x cinema with something outstanding) vs. then usual or retrieved (at the time often in cinema).

But I would keep the individual word cards whenever important new words occur.

The 625 words are also not optimal. Some have several meanings or equivalents in Spanish, some are more advanced or American (shoot with a weapon). Maybe you should take German or Spanish things closer to you.

  1. I think it would be better to link the conjugation table if you had any doubts.
  2. I meant, instead of words that you can take, images that show something current or something past and you see what time you can apply. But both are of course possible: pictures and words.
  3. Sure, but consider that it is a lot of effort if you e.g. instead of 635 maybe 6000 or 10,000 words.
