Fix hard drive write errors?

Hello.

I need help. I keep getting disk write errors. Every few seconds. Not just on Steam. I formatted the drive and then ran CHKDSK /r to check it. It's still there. I just don't know what to do. The drive isn't very old. It's not brand new either. Should I throw it away, or is there still hope? I don't know what happens with the write error. I'm not a "tech novice," so I know a lot.

Thanks for the answers in advance

With Crystal DiskInfo the SMART values should be measured. If the software is different than “Gut” or “OK”, the plate is in case of the ton!

If not, you can keep looking for what it can be.

CHKDS

What CHKDSK does, I declare here: https://disk-doctor.eu/blog/index.php?t=chkdsk_feind_meiner_data

This has nothing to do with repairing the hard drive or saving the data. The only purpose of CHKDSK is to be able to boot system quickly and then play a backup if necessary.

So it is more likely to shorten the downtime of the computers, which is especially important in companies. The setup of old Windows versions also took quite a long time!

If you weren’t a newbie, you’d know that there’s already 1 spelling error in the death sentence for every hard drive. Your data is no longer safe. Throw away, buy new ones. Or open a guarantee case.

Why should mothers per se have no idea of technology?

What a bullshit, a typing error does not cause hardware damage. Those who are smart should also remain professional.

A single re-established sector is already a death sentence. In a non-correct sector, the hard drive is scrap. With 100 non-corrigible sectors, it will probably even be difficult to backup now. This is an absolute total damage and you should expect the hard drive to fail completely every minute.

Interesting that you know how Hatarii meant it, where do you learn it at Avatar school? Apart from the fact that the statistically women have less to do with technology than men, I find it quite striking to have something against prejudices, but then to do others “in the same pot”.

Yeah, I know how it was meant to be a sexist prejudice, and I don’t give a shit about it.

Your attempt to defend it throws you into the same pot for me. So at least I don’t need to interact with you.

You know what it meant. Apart from that he didn’t mean the mother group, but the subgroup 34-year-old mother. Where teanie mothers certainly don’t know about hard drives 😀

It is best to keep a cool head and work all necessary.

The “necessary”: You have a backup of your hard disk on an external memory, i.e. USB-HDD, BluRay, RAID, tape drive or the like?

If not, but quickly 😉 – Otherwise there is no pity…

Your hard drive isn’t hugely fragmented and Windows is running liquid, well-known problems with W10 with slow Explorer are known to you, if so, then the Explorer is restarted in Task Manager?
Such graphs are also often produced when the Windoof Explorer is again permanently stuck in its subroutines, you do not have enough memory that your HDD is constantly busy writing virtual memory.

Then it goes to the HDD:
They store their entire operating values in the so-called S.M.A.R.T values.
Read it out. How do you see the values for repatriated sectors or even non-corrigible sectors? Nowadays, each HDD has a firmware that recognizes write and read errors and accordingly blocks the sector and replaces it from a (limited) stock of reserve sectors. If this stock is used up in replacement sectors, the plate should be replaced.

Often such an error rarely comes alone: it only needs to have given a headcrash with the surface, an indicator are recorded events of the acceleration sensor, i.e. when the plate has got a blow.

Such a HDD does not cost a fortune today, it will not be a 26TB record, where you have to invest properly;-)
