Fische sterben ohne Grund?

Hey,

I came to your question about another Platy question because you wrote that you also have problems and it is so tragic.

I also have such sunset platys… the animals are really beautiful.

It is, of course, almost for despair, when the animals seem to end up without ground, in turn. Especially if the water values seem to be in order.

However, there are often bacterial problems which cause such open wounds or clamping fins.

How many times do you change water? How big is the pool and what is swimming in it?

Frequently, too high a fish and a lack of regular water change can lead to the animals dying.

I have been nurturing platys in a 320 liter aquarium for a long time. I make a change of water of about 50%-60% each week. That’s what I’ve been driving quite well and the animals are strong and munter.

Platys do not belong to such a small basin

That doesn’t sound so wrong. And you’re probably not going to use new fish? – Because you like to take something with new animals.

I would increase the weekly water changes in your place. Instead of only 20% water, I would try it with 50-60%. In order to be able to better reduce this germ density, which can also lead to such infections.

I could also observe with my platys that they are more likely to clamp their fins when I completely feed with flake food. I reduce the flock food and replace it with frost food, the fish seem to be more fit. – If you should only feed with flake food, it might also be a way to counteract all the wrinkles.

You could also add a leaf to the aquarium. These act naturally disinfecting… and can also help keep the fish healthy. Semandelbaumblatt can be bought in a dried form in the zoo shops… alternatively, EasyLife has the “Catappa X” if you don’t want to give a “leaf leaf” to the pool.

I now find a little exaggerated that the pool of the questioner should be too small.

Of course, larger aquariums are usually better and easier to maintain, but from 60 litres I find platys acceptable. Above all, because apparently not a colorfully collapsed fish collection floats in the pool.
