Fingernail removed?

My daughter (10) had to have the nail on her middle finger pulled.
So far everything has gone well.

We went to the hospital twice for a dressing change. Further treatment was prescribed as "care and see how it develops."

Have any of you ever had something like this? How long did you have a bandage on? How long does it take for the finger to become less sensitive?

I had her excused from sports at school.

It's not watery, but it's obviously painful and doesn't look good for a child. She's disgusted by it. I don't know if constantly using bandages etc. is a good idea. The doctor says only when needed… but that doesn't really help me, of course 😏

Questions upon questions…

And yes, we're going to the pediatrician tomorrow so she can take another look. I'm just interested in your experiences.

as long as there is no new nail on it, of course it is still sensitive – from that: plaster on it, as long as your daughter wants it. However, this is not a reason not to participate in sports – it should not be a ball sport at the moment and not swimming, and there is nothing in which the well-founded “risk” she is struggling at the finger, but she can run.

She’s disgusting. – that’ll be better if it’s not so obvious anymore. From there, I’d take the pavement back.

A protective plaster reaches until the wound is dry and clean.

It can take a few months before the nail has grown again.
