Clean the edge normally, so place and sew it. If this becomes too thick, you can try to sew the felt with slanted band, or around with Festonor Button hole. Then best use a slightly thicker, robust thread, e.g. crochet or embroidery yarn.

Hello,

I would stitch with a sewing machine a zig-zag pattern on the edge ..something as contrast..red thread on a gray felt e.g…. visually also looks good..
