Filter necessary for a single crab?

Hello, I'd like to get a land crab, a harlequin crab. It's a completely solitary creature, living without other animals. The aquarium arrived today, and I want to start setting it up. Can anyone tell me if a filter is necessary for a single (land) crab? As far as I know, it only goes into the water to moisten its gills and to molt. Is a filter necessary for that? I've also read that these could cut through the wires.

What would it look like if you simply changed the water more often?

Otherwise my pump would unfortunately raise the water level extremely.

I say, with reservation, that there is no need for a filter because there is hardly any water pollution and this work is to be created by the bacteria living in the oxygen-rich, upper base layer.
