Festplatten: Daten Erhaltung. Diverse Fragen auch zu RAID Systemen?
Hallo zusammen.
Ist Situation:
Ich betreibe seit einigen Jahren mit TrueNAS (FreeNAS) ein Speicher Storage von etwa 11TB.
Alle Festplatten laufen als Single, also nicht im RAID.
Leider kommt es ab und zu vor, dass einige Daten an Qualität verlieren oder manchmal sogar beschädigt sind.
Gespeichert werden überwiegend MP4 Dateien (Video).
Frage:
Wie sichere ich meine Daten am besten ohne dabei einen Berg an Blu-ray Discs in einem Schrank zu stapeln falls Mal etwas kaputt geht?
Taugt ein RAID 1 dazu, dass die Daten nicht so schnell an Konsistenz verlieren oder kann auch da Daten Verlust entstehen?
Ich würde die Daten gerne Live betreiben, also ein System haben um jederzeit darauf zugreifen zu können, aber auch das sich die Daten selbständig überprüfen und sich automatisch in stand halten…
Soo nach dem Motto;
“oh, Video XYZ hat Fehler, schnell die Sektoren aus dem Backup erneuern!”
Reicht das ein einfaches RAID 1 und ist es besser SSD oder HDD zu benutzen?
Ist es überhaupt möglich Daten auf Festplatten dauerhaft zu speichern ohne Verluste über die Zeit?

You should once clarify whether the deteriorations actually originate from reading errors on the hard drives, that is to say there is a read error on one of the hard drives every time in problematic videos?
On the other hand, a RAID would already be an improvement, as this creates redundancy at the physical level.
However, you must not confuse a RAID with a backup, with the additional copy on (for example) an external hard drive you will also receive a redundancy on the logical level. Always attach this backup for the moment of backup and otherwise leave it offline!
First you should see what these MP4 containers are now. Probably your perceived deterioration is that H.254 encodings are now known for small file sizes and not for quality. Apart from that, I prefer Personal .mkv containers because they have no license and support endless tracks.
Next, I’d get the records on btrf’s format, if they’re the net.
And I don’t think that you’re doing garkein backup of your files so far. You should have either a RAID with at least 2 records or a regular backup via e.g. rsync at any time. RAID will naturally slow down the read and write processes, but your system is also more available.
Can’t it be that the mistake has already happened during ribbing?
Sometimes the software in the NAS has stupid mistakes.
And if you don’t see if the plates are in the spring. Log file reporting more and more errors, you’re your fault.

When a file was compromised, I replayed it.
TrueNAS recognizes that some plates are defective.
Corresponding formatting was taken into account at the time.
So the recommendation is definitely on a RAID with a combination of two plates?
Does the automatic bug fix or does it automatically reflect?
