Hard drive broken?

Hi,

Normally, my external hard drive (HDD) was always displayed as troshiba-ext, but now all of a sudden (without me doing anything) it's displayed as "Local Disk." When I click on it, I get an error message: Cannot access drive, corrupted or unreadable. And in the partition manager, it's not displayed as an NTFS partition, but as an undamaged "RAW" (whatever that is) partition.

LG, thanks in advance

Lenn

Yeah, maybe she’s gone.

First, you should find out if it is

  • physical problem of HDD is (defect sectors, worn magnetic surface or heads, firmware, etc.) or
  • logical problem of file system (default entry, …)

is.

To do this, you can read the SMART values of the plate with Crystal DiskInfo. If you did this, please post the results and then we’ll see what’s possible…

How big is the RAW disk?

Try to access Linux because Windows can sometimes not access it due to damaged sectors (can be done via live USB stick)
