Hard drive suddenly has less total storage… why?

Good morning

I got a new PC a few weeks ago. The second hard drive actually had 4TB of storage. However, when I tried to backup my old PC to the new one, I only had 1.8TB of total storage left. So my question is: Why is the hard drive suddenly only half as big? And how do I get my 4TB back?

thanks in advance

No, you only see the system partition. You have overplayed 1:1. Go to the disk management then see the free space you only need to format and have to be provided with drive letters.

You have to look at the “data carrier management”. It’s probably there as an unallocated space if you had less memory before.

right mouse button and then expand volume there, so as always if you want to do something with a item on windows.

Don’t have all the options in mind. But if you right-click on the existing partition, you can probably expand it.
