Dismantle a prefabricated house built in 1976 and rebuild it?
Hi everyone, I'm planning to buy a used prefabricated house from 1976 and rebuild it. Does anyone here have experience with this? Is it worth the effort? Will a lot of it break? Or should I just build a new one since it's similarly expensive? How many man-days would it take to dismantle it? Regards
I don’t think it’s possible to build up and down. Even how long it would take depends on the house and the size. Many parts of the house are fixedly connected or would not be able to be connected safely afterwards. In a prefabricated house with this year, it should also be checked which materials were used, some should be disposed of as a special waste. What do you think? A new building would definitely come cheaper.
Prefabricated house is not the same prefabricated house. This depends on the construction materials and the type of construction. Here you can read: https://www.readhaus.de/ratgeber/hausbau-Basisen/wie-Kom-man-an-ein-musterhaus/
This is possible at least at the premises of the OKAL company: I have driven such a house, which had been inhabited for ten years, from northern Germany to the surrounding area of Munich, because the owner had found a new job there. The dismantling was done with the company’s own crane within one day, then the construction went exactly as fast (only interrupted by a day of transport).
You can bury the project. Prefabricated houses have not been designed for multiple up/down.
I think it’ll be nix. Then the whole installation would have to go out first, and with the walls it is probably like with today’s Ikea cabinets: build up one time and then make no more of it for God’s sake!
