Favorite song in calendar week 26 / 2024?
Hello music fans and music lovers๐ถ,
Since I'm an absolute music freak, I thought I'd simply ask the "Good Question" community regularly for their favorite song of the week. ๐
So if you feel like it, write down which song you really like listening to at the moment (maybe with a short explanation, but that's not necessary, of course).
I would really appreciate any answer from you!๐
Warm musical greetings and all the best – Pierrette๐๐ถ๐ธ
PS My personal favorite song of the week is:โค๏ธ
- BLONDIE, "Call Me" (Release Date: 1980, Genre: 80's New Wave)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2EoqW-tkcg
My personal favorite song of last week was:
- MINK DEVILLE, "Love And Emotion" (Release Date: 1981, Genre: Blues Latino Rock, Rhythm and Blues)
Hey Pierrette89,
Since you reminded me, here's my answer. I couldn't really decide which song to choose at first ๐ That's why it sometimes takes me a while to answer questions like this. Especially because I always have a hard time choosing a favorite song ^^
But I've chosen Ariana Grande's "The Boy Is Mine" as my favorite song of the week! ๐
Ariana Grande is also my second favorite singer, for many reasons โค๏ธ
Especially since the music video, which was released recently, I've really become interested in this song again. But I already thought it was nice before that! โค๏ธ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwRxeZ9Ro24
I also really like the remix of the song, and it's somehow very special because completely new elements were incorporated into it. And that's saying something, because I'm not usually that interested in remixes of songs. Only when the remix is โโreally good do I listen to it more often.
Besides, Ariana Grande had her birthday this week too ๐ฅณโ๏ธ๐
So yes, my favorite song of the week is: the boy is mine โ Ariana Grande
Best regards ๐
Hello dualipaa,
Great, I'm really happy that you responded so nicely to my "invitation" to my weekly question about your favorite song!๐
Thank you very much for your detailed and informative reply (which I read with interest) and the video you posted!๐
Ariana Grande is indeed a truly amazing singer/artist! I can totally understand why you like her so much.
What do you think, will you join us again next week? I'd be delighted!๐
Many greetings and all the best to you – Pierrette๐ค๐๐ปโค๏ธ
Hi, you're welcome! โ๏ธI'm always happy to answer questions about music, sometimes in more detail. It usually happens automatically that I get into the flow of writing ^^
Yes, especially with Ariana Grande, her singing talent is simply incredible. That's why I always call her one of the best singers ever! ๐คโค๏ธ
I'll be happy to join you again next week ๐ซถ๐ป
Best wishes and have a nice evening ๐

Hello dualipaa,
You're welcome, because I thought your reply was great! The video clip is almost like a short film โ very cool!
Best wishes and all the best – Pierrette๐๐๐ปโค๏ธ
Hey Pierrette89,
Thanks for the star ๐ I'm very happy! ๐
Best regards, dualipaa ๐
Hey dualipaa,
Thanks for your feedback!๐ It's great that I was able to inspire you with my question about the song of the week and that you then wrote me/us (the music community) such interesting answers! ๐
I'm excited to see which song you'll choose for next week. I'm already looking forward to it!
Thanks again and best wishes – Pierrette๐ค๐๐ปโค๏ธ
Hello Pierette89!
I think it's a great idea that you're asking for people's favorite songs from each week! For me, it can vary greatly. They can be modern songs, but also really old ones that I've perhaps just heard again after a long time.
One immediately comes to mind. I was at the Vienna Donauinselfest on Sunday and deliberately sought out Alice Merton, as I already knew a bit about her. She made her performance very personal, communicating with the audience in both her native languages, English and German, alternating between them. Regarding this song, she explained that she wanted to express how different definitions of happiness are from person to person. What one person finds good in life may not be important to another. So, whether one is aware of one's own feelings and can find one's way through this complex topic:
"How do you know your feelings":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwKPgf4eE-Y
The next one is a very old song that I have saved on one of my MP3 players. It's often a coincidence which one I choose. Anyway, this one is one that my parents had on a single, and I still have it today. It reminded me of the old days: Gilbert Becaud with "Nathalie":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4EnDFyLckA
And I also heard this one while I was out and about. Over the weekend, a young person (and this has already been asked here by a girl) asked a question who's having trouble growing up, meaning he can't really cope with puberty. It's difficult for some people, but you can always try to remain a child somehow. This song by Peter Maffay expresses it quite well. The mood is somewhat sad, but I also find it very hopeful and beautiful, if you know how to deal with it:

Hello PatrickOm,
Thank you so much for your detailed and very informative reply, which I read with great interest!๐ I find the stories behind your songs of the week really fascinating. Thanks also for including the corresponding video clips for the songs you selected here! Great! ๐
I'm obviously delighted that you like my idea of โโthe favorite songs of the calendar week so much. ๐
Since I was hoping that the users responding here would also choose songs I either didn't know or had almost forgotten, I really like the French chanson "Nathalie" by Gilbert Becaud. My mother (who has always had a great love for French culture) used to love listening to such songs (and still does today).
Well, PETER MAFFAY is undoubtedly one of the greatest artists in the German-speaking rock 'n' pop scene! He's practically his own monument (if you can put it that way).
Here at "Good Question," you can unfortunately only award the star for the "Most Helpful Answer" once per question. I already awarded this star to user "dualipaa's" answer, but you deserved it just as much! So, you're getting this star now, so to speak, retroactively:
Here is your star for the "Most Helpful Answer" : โญ
If you have the time, inclination, and desire, I would be delighted to welcome you next week when I ask you about your favorite song of the week ! ๐ค
Best wishes and hope to see you soon – Pierrette๐๐
Hello Pierette89!
Yes, it's all good, and I'm really glad you started this topic. I'll be happy to continue posting my current favorite songs ๐. It also inspires me to think about older songs or new songs, or even to reflect on lyrics that I've known for ages but never analyzed in detail. ๐ค. So it could always be an older or newer song.
By the way, thank you for the very nice compliment and also for the additional virtual star ๐.
Hello PatrickOm,
Thanks for your feedback! ๐ I think it's really impressive that you don't just use this question about the song of the week as an opportunity to pick a song. You actually put a lot of thought into the lyrics and meaning of a song. And that's evident in your song selection (best example: Peter Maffay). Great!!!๐
This is so much fun for me! And that's exactly why I'm looking forward to your next songs of the week.๐
Best wishes and all the best to you – Pierrette๐๐๐ป
This week it is "Be Someone" by Benson Boone and last week it was "For the Camera" by The Academic
Hello Iknowsomethings,
Thank you very much for participating in my question about my favorite song of the week and for your answer!๐I've listened to the songs you selected. I find the Irish indie rock 'n' pop band THE ACADEMIC and their 2021 song "For the Camera" particularly interesting.๐
Best wishes and all the best – Pierrette๐๐
Thank you, that's really nice of you. Yes, The Academic has some really good stuff. It's really nice of you to listen to it, too.
Hello Iknowsomethings,
I've just posted a new question about the song of the week online. You can find this question in the topic area: Media, Entertainment & Music and in my profile under "Posts."
I would be very happy if you would join us again!!!๐
Best wishes, all the best – Pierrette๐๐ป๐๐ป
Hello,
I'm looking forward to your feedback!๐ Of course, I listened to the songs. As I said, I'm an absolute music freak, and I hadn't heard the songs you mentioned before. So I was curious.๐ค
Besides, I'm not just posting this poll about your favorite songs here for no reason. I'm actually interested in what other users are listening to. Because I like to expand my musical horizons (and not just the musical onesโyou know what I mean).
Thanks again and best regards๐๐
My favorite song isโas it was last weekโ "Mediterraneo" by Ermal Meta. But that doesn't mean I listen exclusively to this song 24/7. So here are three more songs that are currently high on my playlist:
Hello anesneir,
Thank you so much for participating again in my question about my favorite song of the week!๐I'm really happy that you're joining us again this time. ๐
It's perfectly fine if your favorite song is the same one you chose last week. I sometimes have songs that I really enjoy listening to for weeks.๐๐ถ
It's great that you're offering three more songs this week. I just listened to them on Spotify because I hadn't heard them before.
Maybe you'd like to participate again next week. I would be very happy about it!๐
Best wishes and all the best – Pierrette๐๐
I had listened to Tanzwut's "Freude Schรถne Gรถtterfunken" a few days ago, and then unexpectedly, a new song from the band came along. A ballad that starts off innocently but then takes on a profound meaning. https://youtu.be/kB8kFtnz53Y
Rediscovered for myself after ages, the folk band Otyg https://youtu.be/ca6XFP8kau0
Unfortunately, due to the recent election results, this song by the a cappella band Maybebop is becoming more and more relevant : https://youtu.be/k6E5AIwlFyM
Hello Neugier4711,
Thank you very much for participating in my question about the favorite song of the week and for the three video clips you posted here!๐
I was especially pleased that you posted the video for the song "Be Loud" by MAYBEBOP here! Because, as you may have already noticed, there are a lot of AfD sympathizers on this online platform. ๐คฎ Well, thank you so much for that!!!
I would be delighted if you would join me again next week when I ask you about your favorite song. ๐
Best wishes and all the best – Pierrette ๐๐ถ
I'm very glad you like the content of Maybebop's lyrics. For me, German songs need to have content with an important message.
If I happen to read your question next week, I'll join in.
Music is the only area where I don't have that ominous community expert title, so the question doesn't automatically appear on my homepage.
Everything else that interests me, I got a title like that at some point (:
This is useful for pre-sorting the questions (:
Hello Neugier4711,
Thank you so much for your feedback!๐ You can mark the topic "Media, Entertainment & Music" as a "New Interest" on your homepage, then you shouldn't miss any of my music questions.๐
I'm very happy to hear from you again!!! ๐
Best wishes – Pierrette๐๐ถ
Riverside by Agnes Obel
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjncyiuwwXQ
I received the CD Philharmonics as a gift, have been listening to it a lot at the moment, and have fallen in love with this song , which I also like to play on the guitar.
Hello Teifi,
Thank you very much for participating in my question about the favorite song of the week, as well as for your answer and the video clip you posted!๐
This folk piano ballad from the 2010 album "Philharmonics" by Danish singer AGNES OBEL (* Oct. 28, 1980) is truly stunningly beautiful. The accompanying black-and-white video is also wonderfully beautiful.
Great that you posted this here!!! I'm so happy!โค๏ธ
Many greetings and all the best to you – Pierrette๐๐
I have quite a few favorite songs and I'm always adding more.
I've listened to Toto – Hold The Line several times this week, and it's stuck in my head. So you could say it's my favorite song of the week.

Hello Mietzel237,
Thank you so much for responding so spontaneously to my "invitation"! I'm really pleased! ๐ And of course, I really like the song you chose for the week! ๐ TOTO is always great! Top musicians who know their craft.
Thanks for your participation, your response, and the video you posted! Perhaps you'll join us again next week (and the following weeks)? That would be great! ๐๐ค
Best musical wishes and all the best – Pierrette๐๐๐ถ
Hello,
This week it would be "Black Velvet" by Alannah Myles.
Spotify suggested this to me. I like Spotify's suggested playlists for finding new songs, and recently there was one with songs from the 80s โบ๏ธ That's why I have a particularly high number of 80s songs at the moment ๐ถ You'll definitely like this ๐
best regards
PS: Thank you so much for your โbackward complimentโ ๐๐!! That's what I meant by "you answer everything precisely." You really went into every single detail; you can tell how much effort you put into it ๐ค๐ฅฐ
And you're welcome, I just wanted to get that off my chest ๐
Of course I was happy to publish your compliment!
I wish you a nice week and lots of joy with all your favorite songs ๐ซถ
Hello LuminaO,
Thank you so much for participating in my question about my favorite song of the week again! ๐๐ As a 10th-grade student, your time is certainly very limited (I remember that from my school days). So, I really appreciate you answering my question here! ๐คฉ
You're absolutely right: I really like the song you chose this time, too! โBlack Velvetโ by Alannah Myles โ I love this song!โค๏ธ
Maybe you'll have the time and inclination to share your favorite song with me next week and publish it here? I'd be delighted! ๐
Many greetings and all the best to you – Pierrette๐๐๐ฅฐ
Oh yes, I was really happy that you published my "compliment" in your profile!!!๐ค๐ Thank you so much!๐
By the way, I think it's really sweet and kind of you to appreciate my efforts to write good responses here. ๐ฅฐ
I wish you a nice, sunny and positive week too!๐๐ป
Of course ๐โบ๏ธ I'm sure I'll find time for that!
Hello LuminaO,
Great, and thank you! ๐ I'm excited to see what song you'll be presenting here next week. I'm already looking forward to it!๐
Best wishes and all the best, have a great weekend ๐ค๐๐ปโค๏ธ
Hello dear Pierette89, ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐
Last week it was "Something Sweet" by The Allies, who practically nobody knows. I came across the song through a (what else…) movie from the 80s.
https://youtu.be/6vlqPSsO9fg?si=FHIy363cqkDRwFE-
This week it's "Can I Call You Rose," again. I love this song.
https://youtu.be/vKJhzL16woE?si=ga24hCHFCi_6NB-D
Hello dear PepiamStart,
First of all, thank you very much for participating in my question about the favorite song of the week and for posting the two great video clips!๐
When I saw the video clip of the 80s wave band THE ALLIES from Los Angeles, I almost gasped for joy! ๐คฉ Because I always thought I was the only one around who knew this three-piece band from 1982-1984, led by singer Pam Neal.๐ฏ
You're absolutely right, almost no one knows this amazing, cult band. This is probably because their songs are only available on music cassettes (MCs) and demo tapes from 1982-1984.
Thank you so much for posting this video clip! It's exactly what I imagined. Users would introduce songs here that aren't so well-known or have long been forgotten (although, of course, any other song is welcome to be mentioned here, too, of course!) Awesome, mega, absolutely fantastic!!! ๐
I wrote to you last time that I also really like 80s films. So, of course, I know the cult American crime thriller "Angel" from 1984. ๐ A girl named Molly attends a private school during the day and works as a prostitute at night. A psychopathic serial killer threatens her. Scary…
Your second song ("Can I Call You Rose" by THE SACRED SOUL) is also a really great and relaxing soul track. Beautiful!
So, thank you again for your participation!๐๐ Perhaps you'd like to join us again next week? I would be thrilled! ๐
Many greetings and all the best to you – Pierrette๐ค๐๐ป
With pleasure, dear Pierette89. ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐ซถ๐ป๐ I've probably seen Angel 30 times. If there were an award for one of the best underrated songs of the 80s, the Allies would be a candidate with this song. I wish you a nice sunny day and see you next week.
Hello dear PepiamStart, ๐โโ๏ธ
I hope you're well. My new question about your favorite song of the week is just online. If you have the time and inclination, I'd really appreciate it if you'd join me again this time!๐

I wish you a nice and hopefully positive weekend too๐ค๐๐ป
Great, because now I'll have something to do every week for at least the next five years just thinking about the awesome 70s and 90s. ๐๐
I'll start with Belfast Child by Simple Minds. ๐๐

Hello Moewe4,
Great, thank you so much for participating in my question about my favorite song of the week and for your spontaneous answer!๐ I'm also happy that you posted the corresponding video clip for your song right away!๐
Of course, I know the Italian singer GIANNA NANNINI from Siena. Incidentally, she recently had her birthday (June 14). However, I hadn't heard this truly beautiful ballad, "Meravigliosa Creatura," from 1995, with piano and strings.
It's absolutely fantastic that you chose this beautiful song! Thank you so much again! ๐ฅฐ
In my opinion, the Italian language (just like the French language) is so beautifully melodic and almost made for music.
If you're interested, join again this week and choose a favorite song. I'd love to hear from you again! ๐
I'll post the new question online around noon tomorrow. Hopefully by then!
Many greetings, all the best to you – Pierrette ๐๐ป

Hello NiklasDavid,
First of all, thank you very much for participating again in my question about the favorite song of the week and for the link, which you conveniently posted along with it!๐
The German darkwave/gothic band THE MERRY THOUGHTS from Neuss is absolutely fantastic! ๐ค โโIt's a real shame they've only released two albums…
I have the first album, "Millennium Done I: Empire Songs," from 1993, on CD on my shelf at home. Unfortunately, I don't own the second album, "Psychocult," from 1996 (which includes the song "Low Violet").
So, thanks again for your participation and for your song selection! I'd really appreciate it if you'd continue to join us here in the coming weeks/months!!! ๐
Hopefully see you soon, best wishes and all the best – Pierrette๐ค๐ถ
