Why was no one smart enough to guess that opening the Eclipse would lead to the invasion of the dragons in the first place?
Future Lucy may not have been there when the gate was opened, but there will be a reason why 1,000 dragons descended upon Fiore out of nowhere.
And it was pretty obvious that Future Rouge was up to no good. How could Princess Hisui possibly believe him?
It's actually quite logical that the dragons from the past came to the future. Agnologia may be able to hide from humanity, but so many dragons that humans despise would never have hidden for so long.

As Hisui said, Rouge has seen the winner ahead of the future & so its trust is based. Hisui wants to protect the kingdom & gets still said “yes there come 10,000 dragons, the gate serves as a cannon for which it must be opened” once as a bad summary. Dragons still exist on other continents, eventually gives even more what turns out in the final season & in the 100 yrs quest.
Depending on the consistency, the dragons could therefore live differently, which is why they stayed there first.
I understand what you mean & I got this also strange but in Fairy Tail it is like working with trust so why not write the entire characters Naiv?
This can easily be said as an outside viewer.
Imagine someone will share with you a great disaster and he will be out of the future.
Of course you’re suspicious.
However, if he can underpin it with evidence that he comes from the future. You’ll give him more hearing.

The agnologia has ever hidden, I want to doubt. He was at his time the most powerful being that even Zeref could not kill him and Gildarts one of the most powerful magicians lost a leg, an arm and organs in battle against him. One of them doesn’t have to hide.
I also realise that Agnologia does not have to hide. I’m just saying that nobody knows where he is.
But with over 10,000 dragons, I don’t think that’s possible.
I’ll tell you the series plays mostly on the continent Ishgar, the dragon somewhere else would not be excluded.
In the Spin-off series 100 Years Quest, the dragon will also be revealed.
Another thing is, did Hisui know it’s a portal at another time? As far as I remember, Future Rogue did as if this was a weapon.
