Experience with white skin cancer?

Hello everyone,

Somehow I'm still quite perplexed.

I went to the dermatologist yesterday for my alopecia areata. First of all, it was my second visit, and in my opinion, the doctor's expertise doesn't seem to be there.

I had a lump behind my ear and was wondering what it was. So I asked if she could feel it and tell me if it was a lymph node or a bone. She said a bone.

Then she looked at the area. I should add that I'd been pressing on it for a week, and it was red and slightly chafed, if you can call it that. Then I went "ohhhh" "oh" "ohhhh" "that looks like white skin cancer." When I asked where, she said where the lump was and there was also an indentation. "Come back in February, and if it's still there then, we'll take a tissue sample." Wham… now I'm standing there panicking! In 3 months!? I took a photo of the area, and if you zoom in on the image, you can see a lighter, I'd say pinkish, area. I think it's from the pressing on it. Of course, my thoughts are racing.

I went to my family doctor yesterday (who also does skin cancer screening) and he said that he didn't see anything unusual and didn't know what she claimed to have seen.

Still, I'm not reassured. Dermatologist appointments are a rare find for us. I now have an appointment for a second opinion in two weeks. That's a loooong time for me.

Does anyone have any experience? Isn't it dangerous to wait that long?

No, it's not dangerous. White skin cancer is not malicious and does not scatter. He just needs to be cut out so he doesn't start growing uncontrolled. A few months of waiting time are unproblematic in the early stage. So you can relax.

If it wasn't an early stage, you'd have a clearly recognizable large tumor…

And nobody says you have to trust the woman. A second opinion is your good right.

I see it like your family doctor. No trace of white skin cancer…

So relax…
