Exercises for better seat (riding)?
When I first started riding, I almost always rode bareback and without stirrups, which helped me develop a very secure seat. However, after changing stables, I was "retrained" to the Chiron seat and completely neglected the sitting position. I had no opportunity to practice independently.
Especially when trotting, I now feel like I'm sitting insecurely and disturbing the horse's movement.
Do you have any exercises or reminders, etc., that I can work on? My light seat is very good and has always been praised by all my trainers. I'm still having trouble sitting out.
I have a horse share, but there's no opportunity to take lessons. So I have to work on it on my own.
Chiron simply attaches value to the lightweight seat in perfection, with the leg forming the “unobtrusive foundation”, see also the books by Rolf Becher. This requires a lot of stability in the hull, and relatively firm ankle joints. However, the training also in the lightweight seat during the trabe conveys it in the long term under certain circumstances at the expense of the hip mobility, because it is relatively determined.
What helps is intensive training of hip mobility. Instructions are available on YouTube or in relevant specialist literature. Also theoretical knowledge about the dressage seat is necessary to learn how to sit. Although riding without saddle has promoted the equilibrium reaction and the feeling of movement, it is also to be regarded as a separate riding style, which is not beneficial to the dressage seat, because here you sit “on” and not “in” horse.
In the dressage seat, the legs, unlike riding without a saddle or in a lightweight seat, are easy to hang out from the hip.
The base of the seat is the seat leg pouches and the absolutely movable hip joints, as well as the passage of the movement up into the neck and down into the loosely resilient shoulder.
