If exaggeration is meant in the sense of Amplificatio, then there is actually a difference to hyperbola.
Both are types of exaggeration. The difference is that hyperbola exaggerates the thing itself (usually in a way that you can consider as funny), while the amplificatio remains realistic, but for that it is exaggerated in its description of one thing.
