Ever seen a snake?
Have you ever seen a snake?
And if so, what kind?
Were you fascinated, disgusted, or did you have to run away screaming 🐍?
We are talking about snakes in the wild, not those in terrariums at home or in zoos.

I have been interested in this for a long time and would like to get an answer
Hi, my little brother was panning for gold on a ranch. I think it's fool's gold or something. I don't know anything about it. And now he was allowed to take this washed sand home in a little cup. Now we have put it on a plate and taken out 2 small "nuggets" with tweezers….
Hello , My little one is back in the terrarium, the light is back on 12 hours, but he hasn't been fed yet. Is it normal for him to sit in hell the whole time and not come out?
Hello, I recently discovered a new hobby: observing animals. I've been in a field three times now just before sunset, and twice I saw a herd of deer. My question: I know the times by now, but do the deer always come to the same places to feed, or is it random, or do they…
Hi, which animals eat humans even if they don't feel threatened? (So, just for the food?) Are there any? If so, which ones?
Two or three grass snakes. The first time was in a swimming lake when I was five or so. They all ran out of the water screaming, and I didn't notice anything. 😆 So I only saw them briefly, and then my mom explained to me that it was a grass snake. Then our neighbors found one in their garden pond. They didn't want snakes in the pond, so we caught it in a bucket and moved it to another, more natural pond. Besides, there were a lot of snakes in Italy, where I was on vacation last year.

Over the years, I've seen dozens of grass snakes and caught two by hand. I almost ran over one with my bike as it crossed the bike path, its belly visibly full.
In einem Museum kam auf einmal eine Kreuzotter aus einer Ecke gekrochen.
In Schweden eine große, giftige gesehen (freie Wildbahn)
in Schweden? Ich dachte immer, im Norden wäre man vor diesen Viechern sicher,
Learn more about the adder, which is endangered in Germany. It is the snake with the northernmost distribution area. It is found in very cold regions. It actually prefers cold areas, which is why it is found primarily in higher elevations.
Not quite, in the north there are significantly fewer snakes, but not “none”.
Dachte ich auch 😅
I also regularly observe various snake species in Germany. Some species even live in the urban area of Hamburg, for example, in Duvenstedter Brook. There you can find, among others, the grass snake (Natrix natrix), the adder (Vipera berus), and the smooth snake (Coronella austriaca).
In Carinthia, Austria, I once saw a horned viper (Vipera ammodytes). It is considered the most venomous snake in Europe. But I've also observed other species.
In North Africa, in Morocco, I even saw an Egyptian cobra (Naja haje), also known as the uraeus snake, in the wild. Cleopatra is said to have died from its bite.
I used to keep snakes in terrariums myself. I don't do that anymore, preferring to observe them in the wild.
A slowworm on a Sunday walk in the forest.
Came up suddenly from the side
I was so scared.. :/
Edit: To your satisfaction, grass snake was also there,
Eine Blindschleiche ist keine Schlange. 🙂
Aren't slowworms considered lizards, if I'm not mistaken?
doesn't matter. It looks like a snake, whether it's a black mamba or a slow worm, it doesn't matter to me,
Slowworms do not belong to the snake family.
also keine Schlange
Blindschleichen sind Echsen…
Oje….
Ringelnattern, Kreuzotter. In Ruhe gelassen und fasziniert betrachtet.
They are wonderful, fascinating animals that won't hurt anyone if you don't annoy them.
I don't understand why some people react so hysterically.
Oh yes, not just once in Tuscany.
Horrible. I can still remember one incident well. Several of us were staying in a remote holiday home in Tuscany. I drove to the nearest village early one morning to get some bread, about 3 km away. On the way back, I was cruising along the narrow road in a good mood when, 5 m from my car, a long snake crawled across the road. It took a while to get the hang of it, but then I screamed and jerked the steering wheel, almost ending up in a ditch. I managed to stop it, but I screamed like a madwoman for at least another 2 km. Even though I knew that was absolute nonsense, when I got to the house, I asked my boyfriend to look under the car to see if the beast hadn't wrapped itself around something underneath. He refused, tapped his forehead, and even though I knew he was right, we still got into a fight.
Horrible, simply horrible. I hate these creatures and have a phobia of them. Of course, I could do something about this phobia; it's not difficult, but since I mostly live here, where you don't really see these things, I haven't done it yet. But if I ever move permanently to snake country, I wouldn't be able to avoid it.
I respect your fear, but the animals are more afraid of us humans
Ja im Urlaub
Welche Art? Eine Giftschlange, oderürgeschlange? Hattest du Angst?
A small snake crossed our path, and it was in the dark, so I have no idea what kind of snake it was. And I was scared, too.

I live in an area where there are still snakes. Mainly adders and grass snakes. Sometimes they sun themselves on warm asphalt or stones. But they are very shy. They are not dangerous. Even an adder only bites if directly threatened. They usually just flee.
I've seen grass snakes in Germany several times and I think they're great. I'd love to see one again. I have two corn snakes at home and am considering getting a Dumeril's boa.
Wie stehst du zur Haltung solcher Tiere?
As long as you properly inform yourself about the needs of the species you're keeping, design the terrarium accordingly, and it's large enough (the bigger the better), I don't see any reason why you shouldn't keep reptiles. Obviously, since I have some myself.
In the wild, no. I haven't had that much luck yet. I love snakes and wouldn't have a problem getting bitten by one. They're incredibly beautiful and fascinating animals.
Unfortunately, I usually find slowworms dead – what a pity…
I hope to see a viper sometime – but they are also very shy.
different. In Germany, only the Aesculapian adder and the common adder.
Beautiful animals. Unfortunately, they escaped.
Ssssssssssure. Sometimes an adder and often grass snakes or slowworms
Of course, often. I'm not disgusted by them. They're actually quite interesting animals. I know quite a few people who have snakes at home.
When I was about 10, an adder bit me on the leg while I was picking blueberries. My grandfather reacted immediately, but all that remained was a scar.
I've touched grass snakes several times, too. There used to be a corner where adders liked to hang out, but the highway now runs through there.
Ringelnattern.
Ich mag Schlangen.
Yes, but only a small one in our garden. I don't remember which one it was, I think it was a grass snake.
Einmal eine Babyschlange und einmal eine größere, die war aber tot.
Nur Blindschleichen.
Blindschleichen sind keine Schlangen, sie gehören zu der Familie der Echsen und gehören zu der Familie der Schleichen.

You're right 👍
However, the question was different, otherwise I could just ask if anyone had seen an animal.
What room for interpretation does "No, never. Only slowworms" allow for?
Was möchtest du mir damit mitteilen? Dass die Kommunikation durch die Interpretation durch die Teilnehmer geprägt ist?
even slithered around on me
It is astonishing how heavy these animals are and can become
What kind?
