Esterification acid-base reaction?
Is acid-catalyzed esterification an acid-base reaction?
I would say that one could say this at certain points in the reaction mechanism, for example at the initial protonation of the carboxylic acid or the deprotonation of the carbenium ion at the end of the reaction mechanism.
What do you all mean?

Each partial step in which a proton is transmitted is basically an acid-base reaction.
