First car?
Hi, I'm about to start my driver's license and am already looking for a suitable car. I liked the Toyota Yaris and the Skoda Fabia with 75-90 hp. But my uncle always quips that that's not enough horsepower. Is he right? How many horsepower should a new driver drive?
It depends on the ratio of weight and performance. A Yaris with 75ps is more squirting than a heavier Avensis with 90. Power is better than needed. Get used until you get the car under control. It should be 100 to 150ps.
You can also drive 600ps Plus. You can’t let yourself be seduced.
Don’t listen to the old ones who say their car had only 50ps. That went 40 50 years ago in modern traffic is no longer enough.
I used to drive the 45ps Corsa of a friend. He was so lame that I had on the highway only after 500m 90. It’s more dangerous than 150ps to drive.
Well, for starters, I am also of the opinion of 90 hp, then we do nothing, the more hp a car has, the more you want to test it, and that is understandable, I was not different as a young person.
But then you just don’t have the driving experience to keep a PS bullet under control and above all not to be able to assess other drivers, driving situation and so on you just need a few years of driving experience.
160 hp like another one, I just feel too much, but maybe there’s a middle thing with up to 125 hp, depending on the car that should be enough.
It doesn’t matter how much ps. It is important that you first get the driver’s license before you hand over a car.
Never mind. Today all cars have enough power to not have problems, for example on motorway trips. Even the most lame noodles are enough to cross Europe half a day.
My first car, an Audi 50, had 50 hp and that was more than enough. But also only 700kg. When the starter wobbled, he could be pushed alone…. 🤣
Speed was already one of the drivers and not the car. In the beautiful year of 1986, a Porsche 924 with 125 hp tried to hang me for two hours on Italian roads.
Some people used to be more relaxed. Ballere today at 3 p.m. with up to 140 km/h over the Axenstrasse at Lake Vierwaldstätter… can leave the car right there… . There were times there was no one interested. 😎
As a starter, you should pay attention primarily to the type class of cars because of the amount of insurance premium!
The PS number is second or second. not relevant for premiums in motor insurance.

I as a beginner with 17 years have an audi a3 150ps and go occasionally to the gti of my father 350ps. No problems, you have to stop driving🤷🏼
My great brother (19) once was so superb and drove by the car of our father. The 530 hp from the BMW X6M was too much for him and the ride took only 10 minutes (of course without an accident)
That’s why I have so much respect for the performance of a car.
as I said, you have to be able to control it and still drive reasonably. I have no problems with it. But a 150ps car can be bought
It is recommended approx. 160 ps, you just feel easier. 80ps are really lean..
At least 110 hp on a small vehicle is really crampy to drive.
If you can’t.
Go to work and call up with 60 hp. You press the traffic light completely after you turn into the 2nd gear and still feel like a traffic disability…
If you have the money, you can afford more hp, Bzw a car with more ps. So if you have the choice then buy one with more horsepowers, it’s more fun.
your uncle has no idea, even with 75Ps coming to the finish, just take some
my first had only 34 hp at that time, always came from A to B
Well, from A to B you come with all the cars. However, I do not want to be a traffic disability on 4 wheels.
not really, top speed was around 120km/h
the normal smart wasn’t much faster either.
at mine Brabus played something, just 200
