If you first use tooth silk, you effectively remove plaque and food residues between the teeth that are difficult to reach with the toothbrush alone. You can then use a mouthwash to combat bacteria and provide fresh breath. This approach enables a more thorough oral hygiene, since the tooth silk facilitates cleaning, while the oral rinsing additionally contributes to the control of bacteria.

The mouthwash then cleanses the rest. Seems more sensible than the other way.
