Experiences in a nursing home for BFD?
Hello,
I have started to complete my BFD in a retirement home.
I like the contact with people, but somehow I imagined it would be different.
I had to work almost 50 hours the first week and wash both men and women.
There was a nurse there, but I had to do it all by myself and I also had to take people to the toilet all by myself.
I thought I could talk to people, go for a walk or play a little, but I don't have the time.
What were your experiences?
Thanks
Well, the tasks you’re talking about are part of it. Of course, you will be primarily involved in where professionals need support. You are supposed to get to know the activities and the processes at the end, and you have to say, in sobering terms, that “going to practice” and “playing” are hardly planned in time.
Maybe this page will help you find out more about the focus: https://www.bundes-voluntedienst.de/pflege.html
