Erfahrungen BMW 318/320i?

Are there special vulnerabilities in the model?

Yes, there is. Especially the 318i / 320i have their problems, depending on the year of construction. In the versions with N46 – motor (129 and 150 hp), the high oil consumption would be called, as well as a more common time its service quitting Valvetronic. The later versions with N43 – motor (143 and 170 HP) have problems with tingling, usually caused by defective injectors or NOx sensors. Also ignition coil defects are noticeably common, whereas the Valvetronic at the N43 was unreplaced, so no problems can arise. In addition, the control chain problems that are almost typical for many newer motors are common for all engines.

The 118i E87 (as well as the 120i) has exactly the same engines as the 318i / 320i E90. Only the N57 are really good at the E90, but are diesel engines (including NOx – problematic since in Germany without SCR system). The engines in the E46 were much better, especially the M43 and M52.

My buddy is looking for one. What does a new control chain or injectors cost?

Especially the injectors are extremely expensive, exact prices are questioned You better get to the dealer.

Without turbo. In the Calibra there is only one engine with turbo, and that means so.

That’s cool. It’s not a turbo, is it?

A Opel Calibra 2.0 16V is quite economical for its performance, has a durable motor, goes like hell, has 150 hp, and for 8000 you get something really good.

it is a very compact class like one or golf. Gasoline. 4 cylinders maximum . age secondary if the car is otherwise good. He doesn’t care about drive. Shouldn’t swallow too much. But he already wants a little performance. So over 150 ps 🤪 as the age Metin zocker and yokiho-or what that means – collector 🙈

For 8000 euros, I have several cars. What engine can it be? How much performance? Gasoline / diesel and how many cylinders? What vehicle class? Front or rear wheel drive? Any brand preferences? What body shape? Automatic or manual? Does age play a role?

Thank you. Do you have a solid car with a little fun for 8,000.-?

Most of them called checkpointarea. The high oil consumption usually comes from leaky valve cups. There are some specialist workshops that can repair it in this way, otherwise the cylinder head has to go down. What else is the air meter. All in all are the 4-cylinders in the E90 real Schei**motoren! We have always had VAG vehicles, never had any problems. Then about a year ago my wife wanted a BMW. OK, 320i Touring purchased and had since then:

  • Oil consumption + blue torment while accelerating (valve flap + control chain new)
  • New air flow meter
  • unrolled with defective ignition coil (equal to all 4 new, since the other were also shortly before the exit)
  • at present it still slightly supposes from the oil pan seal (must also be made)
  • soon the Vanos servomotor is probably new (power loss)

Especially since the car is installed in the engine compartment without end. Every time you want to take off the engine cover, you have to build the entire water box. On the bottom as well, there are felt 20 panels with 10000 screws attached.🤦🏼 ♂️ That was the first and definitely the last BMW we bought. Especially since he feels like he doesn’t feel the sausage from the plate. It’s really just about speeds.

In the class it is already relatively difficult. If it’s supposed to be a BMW, I’d rather guess the previous E46 Facelift (!) from 2001. They are much more stable.

I don’t know that exactly, but from my own experience through my ex I know that the 18’s is undersized, so better take the 20’s engine

Otherwise I can’t say anything

The 7PS doesn’t make it fat. Then I’d rather have a 6-cylinder.

So I only know the 18s 4 cylinders and then the 20s 6 cylinders variants in direct comparison

The E90 is both 2.0L 4-cylinder. At 320, I think only the injection nozzles are different and the throttle valve is somewhat larger.
